OPEN UP THE CONVERSATION FOR THEM :
This is key!! Sometimes your clients won’t feel comfortable or confident enough to express the change they want.

SAVE INSPO FOR THEM :
If I find inspo that I think will compliment a client, I totally save it for them. Sometimes at the start of my work day I’ll even go looking for inspo for my guests.
I find that this 1. makes them feel very special because I took extra time to think about their hair. 2. keeps me inspired, and I can start brewing up formulas in advance.

HEAR THEM OUT : to all of my very outgoing stylist friends — make sure your client does most of the talking during the consultation. And if you aren’t the talkative type, push yourself to ask lots of questions and make sure the communication is there.

Lastly, at the end of the service — ask what they love most about their hair! (This will give you even more direction for their next appointments & make you 😀 hearing them express how they feel about your work!)

I was talking to a friend about this today, we were chatting about how obsessed we are with Mondays, New Years, fresh starts etc; you get the point!

Here’s something I am thinking about as I plan for the next year and work on my personal and professional goals … Starting 2023 is not about leaving a good or a bad year behind, it’s about the opportunity to INTENTIONALLY reflect on what you learned, how you grew, what went well, or what didn’t and use it to inspire yourself realizing HOW MUCH MORE YOU ARE CAPABLE OF ACHIEVING ✨✨✨

Want to know a secret??? Some of my blondes go multiple appointments without any bleach WHAT?!! I know, I know..

Maintaining the integrity of the hair is my #1 priority and sometimes we opt for low-lights or a smudge to add that freshness back in!

One thing is for sure, NOT a fan of harsh lines of demarcation and I am OBSESSED when my guests come in and their color looks like it doesn’t even need to be done!

Easy tips to maintain your mermaid extensions ✨💗

+always brush and secure it before bed.
I personally wear mine in a loose ballerina bun on top of my head, but a low braid is good too!

+ don’t overuse purple shampoo (all my blonde babes) the sulfates or ammonia in a lot of purple shampoos can dry your extensions out and significantly cause “wear” and dullness.

+ treat them like you would treat your own hair. moisturize with a deep conditioner weekly, apply detangler before brushing when wet, and use oil daily!!

+ enjoy it. because HELLO… you look amazing!

So we all know I'm a stylist/ salon owner here, but do you know how I actually got here?⁣⁣

I am pretty sure it was destiny from the time I was like 10. That was when I made a makeshift salon in my bathroom and I would force my older sisters to come get curls and braids and let me take pictures of them after 😂 I would also give them pedicures and do little five dot flowers as “nail art” on their toes. ⁣⁣

By the time I was 14 ( this is a big secret so 🤫) I had an online fitness coaching program. I sat behind my desktop monitor and had about 8 grown women on an “ab challange” 😂 WTH No one knew a 14 was keeping them accountable (my parents didn’t know for years) Pretty sure that was the start of my journey as an entrepreneur (you know besides the Girl Scout cookie hustle) 😂⁣⁣

As much as I loved playing with hair I didn’t see it as a real career so I enrolled in college and started taking marketing & business classes while I worked at Starbucks. ☕️ ⁣⁣

When I finally got around to going to cosmetology school I was working at a salon doing front desk, & social media for about two years.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
After graduation, I hit the ground running at the salon I was at. I was obsessed with creating & worked LONG DAYS- LONG WEEKS.⁣⁣

A year of working like that, I got a bit burnt out & decided to switch things up. I took a short break (like 2 months) from doing hair

That was short lived when I found a chair to rent at a local salon and officially became an independent artist! ⁣
⁣⁣
In 2019 I started officially dreaming up (like planning, researching) my ideas for a salon. With a lot of help, I was able to make that dream a reality. In Dec. 2019 we opened Sand Bar Beauty! ⁣⁣

Since then, the salon and I (in a committed relationship 😉) have grown and evolved so much in ways I never could have imagined. I am SO SO proud of what this place has become, the women who have connected, the talent & hair artistry, the love and fuzzies that radiate through this place. It unbelievable. ⁣⁣
