Reducing stress

Meditation can help alleviate tension from just about any situation you might find yourself in. If there is a stressor in our lives we respond to fight or fly with an instinct and leave the situation. You may notice a race of your heart or a feeling of anger that makes you want to be explosive, hence the need to fight out.

If you meditate, first, you prevent the response from happening. Meditation gives you the means for taking a step back, breathing and returning to a more comfortable mind state.

Arranging a meeting or three

Excess meetings may have been a workplace bugbear but these are essential right now.
And not just for human contact, which is so much needed.
The role of the individual manager is all of a sudden more important than ever before, i.e. reassuring, motivating and making your team feel safe.
Don't just give us emails.
You need to eyeball to do it.
Use technology such as Skype, Slack and Zoom especially when there are problems.
It minimizes misinterpretations and prevents time-wasting email chains that devor your day.
It could make your team more effective too.
Teams that met regularly for debriefs produced more innovative problem solving.
Name someone to lead the meeting, review recent work and brainstorm ways to improve.
