What is a Chemical Peel? 🧪

A chemical peel is a professional exfoliating treatment that uses acids to remove dead skin cells, improve skin texture, and stimulate cell turnover. Peels can target a variety of concerns, including acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and dullness. At Dune + Nectar, we customize each peel based on your skin type and goals.

Step-by-Step Process

1. Consultation & Skin Assessment

• Evaluate your skin type, sensitivity, and concerns.

• Determine the best peel type and strength for your skin.

• Discuss pre-treatment prep (avoid retinoids or harsh exfoliants 48–72 hours prior).

2. Cleansing

• Remove makeup, oils, and impurities to ensure an even peel application.

3. Pre-Peel Prep (Optional)

• Apply a barrier or prep solution if needed for sensitive skin.

4. Peel Application

• The selected acid is applied in layers, depending on the desired depth.

• You may feel tingling, warmth, or mild stinging—this is normal.

5. Neutralization (if required)

• Some peels are neutralized to stop the chemical reaction; others are self-neutralizing.

6. Post-Peel Care

• Soothing serum or mask applied to calm the skin.

• SPF and gentle skincare are essential for the next 7–10 days.

• Peeling or flaking is normal and part of the rejuvenation process.

Expected Results

• Immediate glow and smoothness after mild peels (lactic, glycolic).

• Gradual improvement in texture, clarity, and tone over 7–14 days.

• TCA peels may have longer recovery with noticeable peeling for 3–7 days, revealing refreshed, even skin underneath.

��The Ritual Room: Skin, Ritual & Education by Dune + Nectar��

I got my first few Virtual Skin Profiles under my belt + I will admit that I’m actually loving it. The fact I don’t have to show my face during screen sharing is probably the best part, lol. I’m awkward as hell, and I know it. I’ve been having a lot of fun creating skin condition education + creating skin care routines. It’s part of this job I didn’t think I would like, I struggle speaking in front of people sometimes, anxiety is a jerk. But… this truly has allowed me to just be myself and use my education in a way that helps others. Helping others truly does give me so much fulfillment in this life, but the fact that people trust my knowledge and respect my art is still hard for me to fathom sometimes. Part of me is still that excluded emo girl, who struggles to find herself in this world. I want to shout everything I can about dune + nectar, but I’m learning the slow burn approach and leaving most to the imagination. I think I shine best when the world has finally believed I’m going to fail, only to come back on the top. Underestimate me, and watch how far I go.

What started as a vision rooted in education, accessibility, and care is slowly becoming something real. Adding virtual appointments is just one of the ways I am making skincare more inclusive, affordable, and reachable—no matter where you are or what season of life you’re in.

Right now, Dune + Nectar is in a building phase. While I continue laying the foundation, I am focused on creating meaningful connections, sharing knowledge, and offering support in every way I can. Virtual services allow me to extend education and personalized guidance beyond the treatment room—because skincare should never feel exclusive or out of reach. For a small fee I will help guide you to a new skincare routine that produces the results you’ve so desperately desired. I have extensive knowledge in building treatment plans and treatment protocols. It’s something I’m incredibly passionate about and even though I’m new to esthetics, I hope to eventually create an educational package that will be the foundation of knowledge for many future estheticians.
