"Life isn’t perfect, but your hair can be.”

Finding a new stylist is hard, but it doesn't have

Anyone else go from a summer blonde to a fall blonde?

That fresh hair feeling…

We did a mix of balayage and foils to brighten up her hair for a more seamless grow out!

We've all invested so much into our routine... how about some hair practices that won’t cost you a dime?!

- Sleep in a braid: make sure your hair is dry, NEVER wet! A braid will help reduce friction & breakage from hair ties.

- Cool water temp: turning down that shower temp will make all the difference in your hair!

- Shower filter: 85% of the USA has hard water which means you likely need a shower filter to combat the harsh effects of that!

- Brush daily: this encourages hair growth, blood flow, & evenly distributes oils

- Minimal hot tool usage: less heat = happier, healthier hair

- Balanced diet & vitamins: nourishing your body nourishes your hair!

August is here and that means school is starting soon for many!

Have you got your back to school shopping done yet?

With wedding season in full swing, here are some great tips on how to arrive to your bridal hair trial!

Hair clean and blow dried (not straightened or curled unless told otherwise by your stylist)

Wear a white or pale top with a similar neckline to your dress so you can visualize your look!

Save some hair pics for inspiration! (Bonus if it’s similar to your own hair color)

Bring your hair veil and/or hair accessory!

It’s also a good idea to wear your makeup similar to how you plan on wearing it that day!

Do all those hair products out there confuse you?

Everyone's hair is different, and what works for someone may not work for the next!

I'm always happy to help when deciding which products would be best suited for your hair type!

The first thing I do in the morning is drink a big cup of coffee!

Are you the same?

With a 2 month old and almost 2 year old we are up bright and early! I learned real quick that when you have kids coffee can be your best friend.

Did you know that if you don't cut your hair every 12 weeks it will actually stop growing?

Okay, that was a lie, but you will experience breakage, spit ends, and in some cases accelerated hair shedding, all because your cut wasn't maintained.

Cutting just 1/2" off every 3 months allows your hair to continue to grow, but in the healthiest way possible, plus freshly trimmed ends look thicker and healthier than wispy ends.

The secret to long hair is haircuts 3-4 times a year and in salon conditioning treatments at every cut to prevent breakage.

Give your long locks the love they are so desperately craving!

3 simple ways to extend your shampoo!

▪️ Lather, rinse, repeat. I'm sure you have thought, "Who actually does that?!" But you should if you go more than 2-3 days between shampooing! Seriously, lather, rinse, repeat until your hair is squeaky clean and your shampoo will last a whole lot longer.

▪️ Dry shampoo. I love dry shampoo! It absorbs excess oils and gives you one extra day before the dreaded wash day.

▪️ Use professional products. Did you know that drug store products have a bunch of fillers in them? Like loads of silicone, alcohols, and other yucky ingredients. They weigh your hair down and make your hair oily faster. Hot tip- professional products are way more concentrated so you can use less product for longer lasting results! Heck, yes! Sign me up.

Hudson Jeffrey McPhillips decided to make an early appearance Friday morning ❤️

Just a reminder I will be out of the salon until July 12th!

When's the last time you took time out for you?

Like really took time for yourself.

You didn't bring your work computer to the salon and worked through your appointment.

You sat in my chair and didn't worry about your husband texting you halfway through asking what time you would be home.

If it's been more than a month since you felt that relaxed, then you are due for an extended appointment! So lets give you the works, and feel free to stay for a manicure or pedicure! 😉

Can we talk haircuts for a minute? ⠀

The one thing I have to really understand when working with your hair is how it grows. Where it tends to be thicker, where it tends to be more fine, and where are your trouble spots. ⠀

No one has exactly the same hair on both sides of their head! Even if you parted your hair in the middle, your cowlicks would tell a story. One side might flip out a little differently than the other. Maybe one side is finer than the other. ⠀

The one thing that always trips people up is why their hair is thicker in the back than in the front! ⠀

Hello! Can you hear me? Oh you can? Then you must have ears! And those darn ears always get in the way of us growing hair in the front of our head. ⠀

So what does all this mean? I have the tools and the know-how to make your haircut look damn good despite all those road blocks! ⠀

What drives you crazy about your hair?

Being a busy mom, does time ever just get away from you?

It happens to me ALL THE TIME!

For me, the house gets a little messier, the chores start piling up, and I start to get a little crazier. I'm a little nervous to see what happens when baby #2 arrives!

I love a shadow root or a balayage on my busy moms, for Laura we opted for a balayage to help keep a soft grow out.

This dreary weather has me reminiscing of warm summer weddings!

This was such a fun wedding party!

I know you have tons of products, but do you know the best way to use them?

There really is a proper order to layer your products on your hair to get maximum results. I know you want to get the most out of your products!

▫️Step 1- After shampooing and conditioning, the very first product you’ll want to use is a leave-in conditioner. My favorite is the restore leave-in from . ⠀

▫️Step 2- You’ll want to layer either a serum, an anti-frizz styling cream, or a mousse. It’s your choice depending on your hair texture.

▫️Step 3- Let’s dry your hair! After you’ve thoroughly dried your hair, you can finish up with a hair spray or if you are curling or flat ironing your hair, grab your favorite heat protectant spray to protect your hair from the damaging heat.

That’s it! You’re good to go!

Any questions?

Speaking of bobby pins!

The bobby pin moment..

Do you remember the last time you were in a wedding or getting your hair done for a school dance and at the end of the night you sat there and pulled them out one by one?

And pulled and pulled.

And it never failed you always missed one and found it in the morning!

What do you think was the most amount of bobby pins you've pulled out of your hair after a special occasion?

Fall is officially here!🍂

And that usually means I see a few more lowlights on my books. What most people don't know is how much power lowlights have!

A highlight is a strand of hair colored lighter, so the best way to explain a lowlight is a strand of hair colored darker, right?

Lowlights can make a highlight appear lighter and brighter.

They can blend dark roots.

And best of all, they can spice up a boring color!

Make today amazing.

We all have those days where we wake up on the wrong side of the bed and everything just literally rolls down hill from there..

The best thing you can do is to find ways to make it amazing no matter what!

Someone once told me, "You're not having a bad day, you're having a bad hour."

There’s so much time in a day to turn things around even though we may feel like there isn’t

Trust me, there’s time.

I do my best to look at the positive note- this shall pass, lets learn from it and move forward.

Here’s to making the rest of this week amazing 💗

So so in love with this color!

Anyone else feel like going to the salon is a mini vacation? Whether its for a little quiet time, or time to just sit and chat and not think of the million things on your to-do list?

Do you use your nozzle attachment for your blowdryer? Do you even know what that is? ⠀

A nozzle is that tiny little attachment that you put on your blowdryer. The wide part attaches to the dryer and the thinner part helps dry your hair. ⠀

I could NEVER go without my nozzle. Seriously! It does so many great things. It controls the air so it is exactly where you need it. That means that you’ll get less tangles, less frizz, and your blowdry time will be quicker! ⠀

Who’s digging in their drawers now trying to find their nozzle? 😉

Even though things will be different going back to work after being on maternity leave, this mama will look great doing it!

Enjoy your last few days Abbie!

From every snip to every single color placement, a specific design is being custom created just for you.

Not every color placement or cut works on every single client which is why I love being able to be creative while also making you feel your best!

Do you have a creative passion?

Are you feeling frustrated with your fine hair?

Let me help!

Here’s a few tips to add volume to your strands...

▫️Use a volumizing shampoo and conditioner. The foundation is key to success. I like to use Surface Char Shampoo & Conditioner!

▫️Curl your hair instead of flat ironing, the curls don’t lay flat.

▫️Add a few highlights! It will plump up the cuticle giving you the volume you are craving.

▫️A favorite trick for styling fine hair is to blow dry your hair upside down. This will help create body at the root!

May your coffee be strong and your Monday short 😁

I love a good curl, it always shows off that dimension!

Do you ever have trouble figuring out how to get that curl in your hair at home?

I use a 1" curling iron. I always prep the hair with Surface's Curls Finishing Spray. It is a heat protectant as well as a light hold hairspray.

Make sure to curl the hair in small sections. The smaller the section, the longer lasting the curl will be. With large sections the chances are it will drop and droop faster than expected.

Crazy to think it's that time of year again. Miss Josie came in for her back to school haircut!

Hope you have a great first day back!

Are these two not the cutest?!

All dolled up and ready for family pictures!

Thanks Jaime Reichmuth for bringing them in!

Balayage, foil highlights, foiliage, baby do you decide what type of highlights to give each person?

There are two questions I like to ask first. What is the look your going for and what is your natural root color?

Lets be honest, what temperature are your hot tools (curling iron, flat iron) set at?

Did you know that the temperature should be set based on the type of hair you have?

Fragile/fine: 250-300F
Thin: 300-350F
Normal: 330-350F
Wavy: 350-370F
Coarse: 370-410F
Very thick/textured: 410-450F

Now turn down those tools! 😄

This new mama was in getting her make-up done for Miss Raelynn's newborn & their family session with Ashley Preister Designs!

Trying to get out of the house with a newborn can be hard enough sometimes, and then add trying to do your hair and make-up for pictures and it can make for a not so fun day.

Or maybe you just want to get a little pampering instead of "feeling like a milk machine" for the day!

I can help with that!

Congratulations to the winners of the manicure and pedicure giveaway! Thank you to everyone who participated!

Do you know a teacher or daycare provider that deserves to get pampered before school starts back up? Tag them and you will both be entered to win a Manicure and Pedicure! Winners will be announced July 23rd!

*There will be two winners, one teacher and one non!
**Double entries if you share this post!

Does anyone else get nervous about a little warmth?

I hear it all the time, "My hair always turns brassy." Or "I like my hair ashy."

But did you know when we add a little warmth it actually allows some brightness and shine? And too much ash can have the opposite effect and make the hair drab.

On some clients, a little warm tone can go a long way!

The next time you come in for your highlights, let's talk about what color best compliments your skin tone!
