Lake Hillier is a saline lake in Middle Island off the coast of Australia. It’s distinguishing vibrant, pink color is due to the presence of organism Dunaliella salina. This microorganism, along with red halophilic (salt-loving) bacteria are the only living organisms in the lake.

Dunaliella salina causes the salt content to produce a red dye, causing its pink hue.

Despite its high salt content (comparable to the Dead Sea!), it is safe to swim in!🏊‍♀️

At the heart of every soap, is a good fat. Strange, right? All soaps are made from fat, but instead of the typical animal fats that most soaps are made from, castile soap is made from vegetable oils. ⠀
