These nails were a layering process. Alcohol was my secret tool to blend out the edges and bring a tarnished effect to them. I was really happy with how these babies turned out?

Her nail look pays homage to elevated individuality and craftsmanship. The blue color is a color associated with luxury, heritage, and personal expression—aligns with the elegance of fine tailoring. The iridescent sheen nods to the innovation and multidimensionality of Black style, and this nail look becomes a subtle, shimmering form of self-styled opulence.

NATASHA for the MET Gala. I LOVED creating these nails for Natasha. I poured my soul into these babies! I wanted to create a nail that looked like tarnished metal, like patina! Apres Silk Cover was the perfect collection to create this. I used 5 of the colors, Silver Screen, To the Academy, Film Noir, Copacabana, and Champagne Darling. I applied the color in random patches. Once applied I sprayed the nail with alcohol. This blended the colors together and brought out a dark tone. After I sealed the nail, I applied a chrome powder to give it an intense shine. The nails really captured the tarnished metal look I was going for.
It was important for me to make a set like this because in fashion and visual art, dandyism is a kind of curated surface—much like patina on metal. Just as oxidized metal or tarnished silver develops a rich surface over time, dandies layer themselves in textures, references, and mannerisms that evoke history, elegance, and decay.

Using Yeah Buoy as the base color and accented with Cloud Nine by Apres, I lightly sponged Cloud Nine and tapped that over the blue. This highlighted the nail. I used a little pale silver paint and continued to highlight the nail. I knew I wanted some reflection on the nail so it played off of the shimmer in the hat she was wearing. For this, I applied some iridescent mylar to the nail. Using No Wipe top coat I sealed in the look.

Dream Team:

Glossy and fun. It’s what I needed on my nails this time around. I used some blooming gel and Fiyero’s My Mani by OPI for the base of the nail look and then topped it off with chrome. Have you ever had blooming gel on your nails??
