Recently, our youngest preschoolers in Lilac Class stepped into the role of chefs, exploring a hands-on baking experience that brought everyday routines to life through play. Using real kitchen tools, the children measured, scooped and poured as they worked together to create their own “muffins,” building confidence and curiosity along the way.
What the children explored:
✨ Measuring, scooping and pouring oats into muffin tins using real kitchen tools.
✨ Experimenting with quantity and comparing “big scoops” and “small scoops.”
✨ Engaging in imaginative play while connecting their work to real life cooking experiences.
✨ Collaborating with peers, sharing materials and talking through their ideas.
Through this playful baking experience, the children combined imagination with practical life skills, discovering that everyday routines can be rich opportunities for learning, creativity and confidence-building. 🧁
Learning Outcomes:
✔️ Language - Communicating ideas and engaging in conversations
✔️ Math - Explored early mathematical concepts by counting, measuring, and comparing quantities.
✔️ Motor - Fine motor skills through pouring, scooping, and controlling small movements.
