Overlooking Folsom Lake in Northern California, this residence was shaped by its expansive views, mature oak trees, and the clients’ connection to the California coast.

The home unfolds across the site in three distinct sections, creating a natural progression from private spaces to the central living areas and southern guest wing. A winding entry path moves between preserved oak trees before crossing a water feature and arriving at a fully glazed entry hall, revealing the lake beyond.

Inside, large sliding glass walls open the living spaces to shaded terraces and the pool, creating a continuous connection between the home, water, and landscape. A light palette of cream limestone, white and silver metal, and floating cantilevered roofs brings a subtle coastal sensibility to the Northern California setting.

A study in contrast, this Trousdale Estates residence moves from a private, limestone clad street façade to an expansive garden elevation defined by glass, slender columns, and a continuous black roof plane.

The planning is shaped by the constraints of the site, placing additional program below grade while using courtyards, glazing, and carefully positioned openings to bring natural light throughout the home. A transparent entry bridge leads into the main living spaces, which extend toward the garden and sweeping views of Century City.

Inside, soft neutral finishes and restrained detailing create a calm backdrop for the architecture, while generous operable glazing allows the interior to open naturally to the landscape.

The result is a residence that feels both highly composed and remarkably open, balancing privacy at the street with an effortless connection to the city and garden beyond.

Nearly a decade in the making, this residence continues to evolve as we reimagine the architecture, interiors, and landscape for a new chapter.

Commanding panoramic views across Los Angeles, the ocean, and Catalina Island, the expansive estate is defined by a quiet relationship between architecture and its surroundings. A restrained palette of limestone, silver travertine, and wood brings warmth and continuity throughout, while refined landscape elements and renewed outdoor spaces deepen that connection.

With construction now underway, the project is entering an exciting new phase that brings a thoughtful vision for contemporary living to an extraordinary property.

A linear lap pool divides this Los Angeles residence, shaping the circulation and drawing daylight into the subterranean levels below. A bridge crosses the water at the entry, creating a direct connection between the motor court, main living spaces, and lower-level amenities.

The living spaces and primary suite extend toward an infinity pool and expansive views of downtown, while the secondary bedrooms and office occupy the opposite side of the plan. Marble, desaturated wood, white ceilings, and expansive glazing establish a restrained material palette, while multiple pools and water features reinforce the home’s relationship with water.

A theater, wine tasting room, champagne cellar, wellness area, and generous entertaining spaces complete the program.

Back on-site in Dallas TX, and the excitement never fades. There is something special about stepping onto a project in person, walking the space, feeling the scale, and seeing firsthand how the design is translating from drawings and renders into something real. Our team spent two days on-site with our incredible partners, taking it all in and soaking up every detail of the progress so far.

Four levels, one continuous experience.

Rather than treating the vertical constraints of the site as a limitation, the design uses them to create distinct moments throughout the home. The day begins above the city, moves through spaces for wellness and gathering, and descends into a more immersive world of entertainment below.

A glass elevator and sculptural stair connect the levels, while a central water feature and light well bring daylight into the heart of the house. At the lowest level, the bowling alley, bar, lounge, DJ booth, and media room create an entirely different atmosphere from the living spaces above.

The architecture shifts with the experience of the home. Open and expansive toward the city, intimate and atmospheric as you move inward.

Skylark turns a dramatically constrained hillside site into one of the defining features of the architecture.

Designed as a sequence of bridges, suspended volumes, and interconnected spaces, the residence transforms movement into an experience. Car elevators replace the conventional garage, an entry bridge spans a three-story light court, and expansive tilting glass walls dissolve the boundary between the interior and the surrounding terraces.

Exposed structural steel, basalt, limestone, and natural stone establish a material palette that celebrates construction as much as form, creating a home where engineering and architecture are inseparable.

Organized across three levels, the architecture responds to the site’s unique peninsula condition with a central water courtyard that introduces natural light deep into the lower level while establishing a quiet focal point at the heart of the home. Expansive living spaces extend seamlessly toward the surrounding gardens and pool, while a warm palette of limestone, oak, and refined metal accents balances the home’s clean architectural lines. Every space is carefully positioned to frame the landscape, creating a residence that feels equally connected to its natural setting and the rhythms of everyday life.
