"Wool, Wine, Weddings & Weekends!"
WeatherLea Farm & Vineyard owners Malcolm and Pamela Baldwin host weddings and events as well as overnight guests, raise sheep and llamas, and grow wine grapes on a historic farm in northern Virginia. Right here on the farm, you will find:
• The perfect setting for an outdoor wedding on a historic farm and vineyard, with a reception in a beautiful 19th centu
We are taking Covid-19 seriously at WeatherLea. As a result, we have reconfigured the tables and chairs in our barn to facilitate "social distancing." This requires limiting guest counts for events this summer to 50 or fewer. For couples seeking a 2021 venue, we are happy to plan for up to 150, but with a contingency clause to account for uncertainties about that timeframe. We have also introduced a new "Covid-19 Clause" into our standard wedding contract, detailing the precautions we are undertaking and those expected of guests, and allowing either party to cancel the wedding without penalty in the event that any member of either party (WeatherLea or the wedding couple) were to contract Covid-19 before the wedding date.

It's engagement season, and couples just beginning to think about a wedding in the country and a reception in a genuine Civil War-era barn may want to look at Pinterest's new "Country Weddings" posting. Lots of ideas there. And those who decide to go with the country experience are encouraged to contact us at WeatherLea Farm & Vineyard, in Lovettsville, VA. Great outdoor locations for ceremonies and cocktail hours, and a wonderful barn setting for a sit-down dinner reception! www.weatherleafarm.com.

Ashley and Shenan...our first LGBTQ couple and one of our very favorite venue client couples! You can see on my husband`s face how much he enjoyed officiating at their wedding! Alas, he is not longer with us, but our policy of encouraging LGBTQ weddings remains fully intact.

As an LGBT-friendly wedding venue, WeatherLea Farm was proud to host the recent and wonderful celebration of Shenan and Ashley, as officiated by Malcolm Baldwin and nicely captured here by photographer Steve Whysall. Congratulations!
We are delighted that our B&B cottages have become a popular overnight stopping-off place for long-distance hikers on the Appalachian Trail and bicyclists on the C&O Canal Towpath! This month we hosted 7 hikers who arrived after covering 46 miles on the AP in a single day, from just above the PA line and through MD to our location just across the Potomac in VA -- by way of Harper`s Ferry, WV. And two weeks ago we hosted two young women who biked the PA trail and the C&O Canal Towpath from Pittsburgh to Brunswick, just across the river from us.. After a night here they proceeded on the Towpath into Washington. We hope these folks will spread the word that we love hikers and bikers!

The latest wedding trend is...elopement! This is the perfect solution for couples who just want to be married and to share the occasion with a very small group of much-loved family and friends, without the expense and hassle of a major production! So...WeatherLea is pleased to announce the arrival of its latest service offering, the Elopement Package! While each event will be tailored to (and priced based on) the couple`s needs and preferences, we have done most of the work by developing arrangements with our favorite vendors -- caterers, florists, bakers, musicians, photographers and (not least!) our resident officiant -- to provide services for couples and up to 10 guests. Overnight accommodations for up to 8 are also available. We will put it all together for you, with 2-4 weeks` notice. Fancy dress is optional; we did a recent elopement for a couple wearing shorts! Dates subject to availability. Contact us today at [email protected] to start your elopement planning!

New Nearby Grocery Store for Overnight Guests` Convenience!
Great news for WeatherLea Farm`s Milk Cottage and Shepherd`s Cottage guests!
A brand-new, huge Weis Market grocery store opened last week, just two miles across the Potomac River from us, in Brunswick, MD,
While we provide our guests with breakfast foods, many opt for cooking their own meals in our recently remodeled cottage kitchens (photos below), and the new store makes that even more convenient!
This is peak season for our B&B Farmstay cottages. We meet so many wonderful folks who come to stay while exploring the farm and all the many wonderful sights and activities in our area, and today when a family with 4 kids left after a 3-day weekend here I was moved to tears upon reading the following message in our Shepherd`s Cottage guest book:
EJ is 10 years old and is a non-speaking child on the autism spectrum. He spells to communicate. I hold up a board with the alphabet and he points to letters to make words. He spelled this the morning we left: I LIKED STAYING HERE BECAUSE I LIKE FARM ANIMALS. The farm was perfect for our family of 6. Thank you!
Reading that and knowing that we made that child happy is the best reward imaginable for a host. Thank YOU, EJ.
