Sudsy Pigeon Soaps

Introducing Smoking Embers, my entry for the May Soap Challenge Club: Oasis Swirl.

This swirl was very challenging! I’m really happy with the way it turned out, considering this is my first attempt and the batter accelerated/riced after adding the smoky fragrance oil. I can’t wait to see how the swirls change as I use them. Thanks to for teaching us his amazing technique!

Soap Challenge #2: soap dough embeds! This one was a roller coaster of fails & successes. The 1st batch of dough was awful, but that led to an amazing 2nd batch of neon and really fun rainbow cane. The shredded grass soap came out weird - maybe too much mica? - and the glycerin rivers are clearly starting to brown due to the vanillin. I can’t wait to remake this to perfection on day.

Soap Challenge #1: hanger swirl! I was genuinely surprised that the swirl came out so well. It was a total mushy nightmare to take out of the mold, which is why I missed the deadline to submit. The scent is amazing - fresh cut grass and “ocean fresh.”!

I did it. I made a soap that was swirlable, with less than 24 hours until the deadline! Now we wait for tomorrow to see what lies underneath.
