They say that the first 5 years in business are the hardest. I started this thing just after the height of the pandemic in 2021. Moved to a new location in 2023. Survived the devastating blow of failing my inspection due to selectively enforced regulations on brow services - leading to the state mandated discontinuation of my favorite (and second highest grossing) service. In 2025 Miss Quinn Studio evolved into Revolution Wax Studio. Now with the world on fire across so many different areas - including the economy - I’m entering my 5th year in business.

This year I am leaning into the services I enjoy the most and continuing to build community. I will continue to connect with people who believe in the power of caring for each other. Whether you are a new friend, client, local business owner, community organizer, activist, fellow esthetician, or any combination of those things - I’m looking forward to what we can build together. I am forever grateful to those of you who have stuck by me all of this time. Your support means the world to me. I literally could not have done this without you .💚

Cheers to 5 years! (And yes we will keep fighting to bring the state regulated scope of practice up to date for estheticians!)

Listen, just because you wax certain areas - it doesn’t mean you have to wax everywhere. Most people who choose to remove their body hair use a combination of methods.

There is nothing wrong with waxing some areas, shaving others, and letting some grow. In fact, that’s how I approach my own body hair!

Just please, ditch the Nair. Slathering those chemicals on your skin is dangerous and it ain’t worth it, trust me.

💞February Recap

It’s important to remember that there can still be joy, despite the horrors. Here is a little bit of what brought me joy this past month. And I made 🍞bread! For the first time since we had to during covid lockdown. I’ll take thats as a win.

Being inclusive does not mean that I will tolerate intolerance, bigotry, or disrespect.

I will not allow hateful world views to take up any space in the atmosphere here. I will also not allow my own personal boundaries to be violated.

Inclusivity means cultivating a safe(r) environment for me and my clients. The wax suite is a vulnerable, sacred space. I will do everything in my power to keep it that way.

We are not broken 💪🏼

In case you need to hear it from someone who sees all types of bodies - hairy bodies:

Body hair DOES NOT make you
❌Less Feminine
❌Less Hygienic
❌Less Desirable

Body hair means you are a mammal. We are all mammals and we all grow hair - lots of hair all over our bodies. It’s not “bad” or “gross” - it’s simply part of being an adult human.

Don’t let some bu****it standards set by gross old men made to keep us buying more crap and looking like pre pubescents dictate your choices.

If you choose hair removal - do it on YOUR terms. Your body, your choice.

I never thought I would stay in the beauty industry.

I never cared about trends or kept up with the latest greatest (makeup/skincare/treatment) whatever.

What I do care about is helping people feel confident and empowered. But I realized I couldn’t prioritize people the way they deserved while suffocating under corporate control and trying to meet “metrics” that some as***le who only cares about profits had dictated.

I was burnt out, overworked, and killing myself trying to make things better for my clients and in my work environment in general. It was unsustainable and it felt like I wasn’t even making a difference.

But one day I realized that I could do things differently. The laws in NJ shifted and suddenly independent estheticians could start a business without it having to be a full blown salon. I decided to shift all the time/energy/focus I had been wasting on improving “life at the wax chain” - to starting something fresh centered on what was best for me AND my clients.

I’m frequently reminded how much of a difference this has made, especially from folx who have been with me since the wax chain days!

Thank you all for believing in me and trusting me as your waxer. And if we haven’t met yet, welcome. Let’s build something better together 💚

Rage. Pain. Fear. The tightness in my chest every time I find out the latest atrocity in this ever evolving hellscape. 💔

Many of us are feeling powerless. That's what makes it so important for us to be VERY fu***ng clear about where we stand.

It costs exactly zero dollars to care about fellow human beings. For those trying to justify people being murdered in the streets and children being ripped from their families - stay the f**k out of my space, disrespectfully.

Stand up. Speak out. Strike back. ✊🏼✊🏾✊🏿

This is one of those small steps that makes a big difference.

Pausing exfoliating ingredients and activities before your wax helps prevent lifting, irritation, and unnecessary sensitivity. It’s not about stopping good skincare, it’s about timing it properly so your skin stays supported.

When prep and technique work together, results speak for themselves.

The moments in the treatment room help clients feel confident.

The moments outside of it help me feel grounded. ☕
Confidence isn’t just something we give our clients, it’s something we build for ourselves, too.
