I remember in my days at , struggling to understand how to create dimension into the face for various lighting setups. (The last two photos reveal my struggle both from 2011 😅)

Enhancing your natural features for photography and in real-life takes time to master but it’s a skill that is held dear in every artist’s heart.

Wedding and event makeup artistry is far from your daily makeup routine. There’s strategy behind our placement and layering. I literally find myself feeling so much peace when I’m in my zone defining a bride’s features despite any possible chaos around me.

The last two are from school - one at Cosmix and the other at the art of institute of Fort Lauderdale. The last one wasn’t as harsh but because of the lighting, I ran in last second and added more… in the dark 🤪 I’ll never forget knowing I made a mistake in that moment.

There’s nothing I love more than when the bridal party feels insanely gorgeous too and judging by these smiles, I think they did.

Heidi’s sister wanted her eyes to be the focus and the shadow stick helped us make sure they would be. We kept her hair timeless and low-key so her dress and eyes would be the full focus.

Her MOH had a shoulder length bob and wanted a messy yet polished updo. prepped her hair beautifully so when I got my hands in there, it was a breeze creating a style she loved.

It was important to Heidi that she looked like herself and that her features were taken into consideration when creating her look.

Shouldn’t this always be the case?

Unfortunately, it wasn’t in her experiences and together, we made sure it wouldn’t be the case on her wedding day.

Rvl’d Beauty is anti-trends. Not everyone needs the contour. Not everyone needs full coverage this or that. Your bridal makeup is yes, guided by my artistry but ultimately driven by who you are.

Heidi’s day was beautiful. Surrounded by so much love and clearly, she enjoyed every bit of it.

It was an honor to be a part of her day and bringing her out while embracing editorial vibes.

This bride had thin, fine hair but she was able to have the wedding hair of her dreams for her wedding day and I think you can too!

1. Get the haircut! Sometimes length can work against you regardless if it’s an updo or downs style. A healthy cut can increase the bounce of the curly and overall fly-away free finish.

2. Get the extensions! Believe it or not, extensions are best for creating volume throughout your hairstyle and almost ALWAYS take your wedding hair to another level.

They can provide more grip for each curl too so those of you struggle with your curls staying - another bonus!

They can also add dimension into your hair when choosing a color slightly warmer, brighter or deeper than your natural hair color. This adds interest to the style and looks great in those photos!

3. Don’t be fearful of product - including root cover! When a stylist knows what she’s doing - and all ladies do - you’ll always be amazed by how healthy and full your hair looks and feels!

It was so fun creating this half updo. Her hair was bouncy and had healthy shine! This is your reminder to invest in your stylist and your hair for your wedding day 💃
