Can a lung infection heal itself?

A chest infection affects your lungs, either in the larger airways (bronchitis) or in the smaller air sacs (pneumonia). Your own immune system will likely deal with the infection, as most chest infections are caused by a virus. However, antibiotics are sometimes needed to assist with recovery.

How to stop a lung infection?

A bacterial infection usually requires antibiotics to clear it up. A fungal lung infection may require treatment with an antifungal medication, such as ketoconazole or voriconazole. Antibiotics won't work on viral infections. Most of the time, you'll have to wait until your body fights off the infection on its own.
