Spiritual wellness; Being connected to something great than yourself, having a set of values and beliefs that provide a sense of purpose and meaning to life, then using those principles to guide your actions.
Your journey to spiritual wellness may involve the following:
-Practicing meditation or yoga
-Praying or taking part in organized religion
-Spending quiet time alone pondering the meaning of life
-Serving your community, spending time in nature, appreciating music and the arts.
My personal favorite is spending time in nature. In nature I see the interconnectedness of everything and how all things have a purpose.
In what ways do you practice Spiritual Wellness?
Taking a closer look at the Wellness Wheel I'll start with social wellness; it is defined as "one's ability to interact with people around them. It involves having meaningful relationships, respecting yourself and others, and creating a support system that includes family members and friends. Here are a handful of benefits of social wellness:
-Add years to your life. Turns out, being social really may be able to
influence how long you live — and there's research to prove it.
-Reduce the risk of stroke.
-Boost your immune system.
-Lower or delay your risk of memory loss or Alzheimer's disease.
-Relieve pain.
Being social is not a challenge for me but I have had to work on cultivating healthy relationships. Some ways to build your Social Wellness:
-Practice Self-Care
- Know Yourself
-Rekindle old friendships and nurture relationships with people who
are respectful, positive and supportive
-Don’t be a flake!
-Appreciate Yourself and Others
Social wellness is an ongoing process that requires attention throughout our entire life. Be open to new activities and experiences. It's never to late to join a new group, try a new hobby, volunteer in a cause or community project you're passionate about. Plan a regular get together with friends and family, make time in your schedule to spend with people whose company you enjoy; it will be worth it and you'll improve your health as well as the health of the people you care for!
This is an active muscle that plays a role in lifting the shoulders, rotating the shoulder girdle and many arm movements; When someone has a stiff neck or shoulder, the levator scapulae muscle is often a factor. If you were to shrug your shoulders, this muscle would be at work. Those who suffer from levator scapulae chronic pain often have to give up activities that they enjoy since they activate trigger points in the muscle upon movement.
The following list covers some of the levator scapulae pain causes that doctor’s commonly report:
- Whiplash from motor vehicle accidents
- Working at a computer with the head turned
- Emotional/mental stress
- Carrying heavy bags with a shoulder strap
- Holding a phone between the shoulder and ear for too long
- Sleeping on your stomach with your head turned
- Head forward posture
Massage is a able to help alleviate this pain and stiffness and get clients back to the activities they enjoy.
One of the ways heart disease begins to develop is a result of long-term, chronic stress and anxiety. Massage has been shown to be excellent in managing stress and anxiety because it addresses two important aspects of the condition:
1.) Lack of restorative sleep
2.) Pain from chronic muscle tension
Massage therapy has been proven to reduce stress and improve sleep quality and significantly reduce pain levels for a variety of conditions from arthritis to chronic muscle pain from fibromyalgia.
While there are many causes of heart disease and not much can be done about congenital heart conditions, massage therapy has been shown to significantly aid in reducing stress and anxiety in both congenital heart conditions, and cardiovascular conditions brought on by lifestyle factors.
Have you ever heard of the Wellness Wheel? Many people believe “wellness” means just being physically healthy or even being physically fit. However, the wellness wheel is made up of eight dimensions of wellness, all of which impact your health and well-being. The eight dimensions are: physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, occupational, social, environmental, and financial.
All of these dimensions impact one another. Feeling “off” in one dimension will eventually impact all the others, so it’s important to pay attention to all eight dimensions.
In what areas do you feel the strongest? What areas would you like to improve?
Over the next week I'll visit each area of wellness for encouragement on your wellness journey. It's not as hard as it looks, you're probably doing most of these things already!
Laughter lowers blood pressure, triggers the release of endorphins, produces a general sense of well-being, and last but not least works your abs!!!
If you’re needing to relax and relieve normal muscle tension CBD oil massage will be exactly what you need. But if you suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory-type chronic low back pain and autoimmune inflammation then the added DMSO will enhance the pain relieving effects of CBD. DMSO is easily absorbed by the skin and is used to increase the absorption of other beneficial oils. It has been used by itself as a topical analgesic and is also used intravenously by medical professionals for many inflammatory conditions.
This herbal tea concoction has a story. Indulging in what others may not consider self care but in my busy life, that often takes me from the places that fill my soul, it is self love and care. The rose hips were gathered from the banks of the Blackfoot River in the fall just after the first light frost. This is my favorite season to be outdoors and it was a beautiful day. Nature preparing for the winter to come is energizing. The chammomile I grew from seed to plant in my herbal garden which will soon become a second small business. It was my first harvest. Growing plants and herbs brings me a lot of joy; It puts me right in the middle of all the action going on in nature starting in spring, and going thru summer and fall. Mixing the rosehips and chammomile together for a healthy and nourishing tea too drink on a cold winter day in Montana, and I have a simple but rewarding cup of connection to those experiences and that which fills my soul, nature. We exude the energy that we fill ourselves with. Take time to fill yourself with good vibes!
Even the monkeys know it's all about the heat. I don't have a natural hot spring in my room but I do provide steamed towels. Moist heat is most effective for heating deeper muscle tissue for relief of pain, stiffness and secondary muscle spasms in chronic arthritis. Coupled with a good deep massage with CBD Oil and your feeling oh so good!!!
Copper isn’t sold on early morning planning, but he’s willing to tolerate it to hang on the bed with me.
CBD Makes These Meds Less Effective Make sure CBD isn't interacting with your prescription drugs.
