SUN PROTECTANT. Making handmade skincare products is a very important responsibility and we do not take it lightly. Especially being entrusted to help choose products for you and your family that gets put into our hands. Much information and transparency are needed when opening up new alternatives to clean living. Some will love this skincare and others will not. Each individual has to make that choice. And at the end of the day, we are all personally responsible for our decisions that we deem best for our families. So, feel free to inquire, ask questions and search out the ingredients that we use. And then you decide!
We recently made a small batch of Sun Protectant Balm. After much research we found a recipe that we believe can be helpful in offering some sun protection and also ditching chemical-based store-bought items.
Our Tallow Sun Protection is not lab tested or is rated with a SPF value. The ingredients used to make our Homemade Sun Protectant all have their own SPF ratings, but it's important to remember when adding these together that 1+1 will not always equal 2 on a SPF scale. Here are the ingredients.
Non-Nano Zinc Oxide, generally a 6-11 SPF
Raspberry Seed Oil, because it protects against UVA & UBV Rays. It generally has a rating between 28 and 50 for UVA and up to 8 for UVB. We also add Carrot Seed Oil not only for its natural SPF but because its antioxidants as well. Carrot Seed Oil rates around 35 to 40 SPF. Hope this helps! Kim
