Δ This last week was an unexpected yet much needed mental health break for me. After travelling across the country to visit family the week prior, I came home in much need of a recharge.

Δ Thanks so much to my wife for making this trip possible and holding down the house while I was away. Living away from one half of your family takes a toll that I am not able to be cognizant of on a day-to-day basis.

Δ Since moving to California in March of 2015 I have struggled with home-sickness in various conflicting degrees. Going to my home-state to visit family is, and always will be, bittersweet. It is never enough time.

Δ As I’ve began to settle into my life here in Southern California (mostly over the culture shock) this is my HOME. Not just where I live. It is truly where my heart is.

The best time to wax for the least discomfort is when you’re ovulating ✨ but guess what life happens, right? So if you find yourself needing your wax during your menstruation don’t stress Queen, I got you! If you have any questions at all dm me anytime 👍🏼

💦Quenched skin = healthy skin ✨and ✨ hair

Make sure to moisturize at least once daily 🧴drink plenty of water 💧and eat fresh produce 🍉 to keep your skin from drying out.
If your skin looks dry and feels rough ❤️‍🩹 your hair is dry and brittle too.

Skin seeks out moisture, so when it’s deprived of that hair is cut off from the natural supply ☔️
This leads to breakage during your wax session preventing effective removal of the hair at the root🌵

Testing this out to see how it looks when posted. This is what I’ve been working on most of today 😅 hoping the wireless mouse my wife is bringing home for me will help with my effectiveness. Using the mouse pad on my MacBook for this design was not it! 99% sure I will be making changes to this 🙃

🐝 The name Bumble Bee is very meaningful to myself and my family. This isn’t just a trendy and cute name for a waxing business, although it is that too! It symbolizes much, much more.
🐝 Our Great Grandma Bumble Bee. More than just a nickname, it was her name. Started when my older brother couldn’t pronounce Beatrice as a baby, the name Bumble Bee was forever dubbed and sometimes shortened to BB.
🐝 She was my best friend as a child. Her home was near the corner grocery store my mom frequently sent me to. I developed a habit of stopping by before or after running my bike errand for Mom to see Great Grandma Bumble Bee. Always excited to have company and I love the attention and food she would whip up for me.
🐝 Knowing she is watching over us I hope that I am making her proud starting my small business not just in her memory but in her honor.

💦Let’s talk results and exfoliation. Did you know what you do at home in between wax visits is the most important part? Taking care of your skin daily has a big impact on the results you will see at each wax session.

💦Exfoliation and hydration are KEY here. Make sure to exfoliate the areas to be waxed 2-3 times a week and moisturize your skin daily. Use the exfoliation method that works best for you whether is be an exfoliation mitt with a mild soap, a scrub, or an enzyme exfoliate choose what works for YOU.

💦Then make sure to moisturize daily, morning and night for the face. Proper skin care will help to achieve the best result by removing dead skin cells that can lead to ingrown hairs or buildup in the hair follicle. Doing this will make the process of waxing less ouchy and more effective to give you smoother, longer lasting results.

💦Not doing so will lead to stubborn hair that is trapped by a plug of dead skin cells or dehydrated hair that will break when the wax is pulled. Hydrate and exfoliate gorgeous!

🍯At Bumble Bee Wax Studio we use Honey Comb Wax Co professional hard wax. Hard wax is a strip-less wax that only adheres to the hair and not the skin for a more gentle hair removal procedure.

🍯Wax is applied in the direction of the hair growth and removed against the hair growth. With hard wax being gentler on the skin, any hair that is not removed on the first pass can have wax applied to it again, up to 3 times. For these “clean up” passes the wax is then applied in the opposite direction of the hair growth.

These are some of the most common over the counter products I hear my clients tell me they use. And for good reason, right? They make your hair FEEL good 💁🏼‍♀️ and for the results they promise the price is right.

🚫Wrong!!!

💊 What these products all have in common is they contain WAX ingredients that build up on the hair. This is what makes the hair feel soft, appear shiny, and give more density. In the long run this buildup is devastating. Not only is it building up on the cuticle of the hair but also on the scalp and in the follicle. What did does is choke out the follicle (where your hair growth happens) KILLING it and ultimately causing the hair to become thinner and thinner over time.

🦠 I know times are tough right now with the craziness that is 2020.

💡 There is a solution. Costco is known for selling high end products like Grey Goose Vodka under their private label Kirkland for much more affordable prices. Well did you know the shampoo and conditioner is Pureology? For this liter size you usually pay around $30-$40 for each bottle. Instead get this one from Costco for less than $10 each bottle. It comes with a handy pump as well! A lot of professionals won’t share this information as it could cut into their retail profits but I would much rather see someone using a professional quality product on their hair at a price they can afford rather than not buying from me anyway and damaging their hair with something else!
