Here’s the closeup of my Moldy Goth look for / my submission for Lea Evangelista ‘s open collab, whose theme for this round is “Make it weird.” I definitely felt wacky and weird in this look, and depending on what the end of this month is looking like, this look may have to count as my entry for Unsettling Goth, too, but we will see!!

I’ve sooooo enjoyed seeing everyone’s submissions so far, especially for the Moldy Goth prompt - your creativity blows me away 🤩 Excited to see what the rest of this month has in store :D

Mold emoji when??? The fourth prompt for 2026 is Moldy Goth, and I knew immediately that I must use the Rotten palette from Blend Bunny® Cosmetics and Mei Pang 🙂‍↕️ I actually added this palette to my collection only very recently, because right when it first came out, I was just beginning to recover from a pretty gnarly mold-induced cold 😬 so mold was a bit of a sore subject at the time for me 😆 But I definitely see why Mei drew such powerful inspiration from it, I had a blast embracing the funky shapes and colors of mold growth for this look. Since this look is so out there, I would also like to make this my formal submission for Lea Evangelista open collab, since the theme is “Make it weird” 🫨

Speaking of this month being busy, one of the things on the agenda is a Hayley Williams concert tonight :D very excited for that!!

Comin at ya with a late night submission for today’s prompt: Crystal Goth. I always confuse crystals with gemstone and minerals, because tbh I’m not sure what the difference is, if any, but I *think* black tourmaline is a true crystal, so that’s what I chose to go with for this prompt! I think it’s very goth coded, and it also lent itself to a quick, relatively low effort but high impact look. As soon as I decided on using this crystal for inspiration, I knew I had to pay homage to its linear texture, and I’m quite pleased with how that element turned out! I just grabbed a big ol flat paintbrush that had never been used before, dipped it into some black water activated liner, and swiped it on for a dry brush type effect. Pair that with bleached brows, a pale n**e lip, and zero blush, and voila! I couldn’t resist also throwing on a black tourmaline necklace for good measure 👉👈

Happy first day of 2026!!! For this year’s list of prompts, I wanted to start off by acknowledging the transition of the seasons, so Summer Goth felt only natural. When I think of Summer, I think of warm sunset colors in bright vibrant tones. When I think of goth makeup, I think of sharp details, smudgy black eyeshadow, and black lipstick. So here’s what the Venn diagram between the two might look like! I’m not gonna lie, these are NOT my tones and I felt very much not myself in this look, but then again I haven’t done my makeup in about a month or so, so maybe I just forgot what I look like with it on 💀

Anywho!! Thank you SO much to all you beautiful people who are joining me once again for Gothtember this year, and to the beautiful people joining in for the first time!! I’ll be diving into everyone’s submissions later this evening, but I’ve already seen some coming through and I am blown away 🤩 Here’s to living our best gothic lives this month and beyond 🦇

A few notes about this year’s prompts:
🕸️ I switched up the pacing this year and built in a lil break between 9/9 and 9/15. My goal was to give people (including myself) some time to prepare some looks ahead of schedule for the second half of the month. I hope that is helpful!
🕸️ The prompt for 9/19 (Nocturnal Goth) was intended to work in tandem with Spark ‘s open collab, for reasons that will become clear when they reveal the inspo pic/color palette for September 👀 So feel free to combine our collabs, but no pressure of course 🖤
🕸️ On 9/30 I will be sharing a roundup of looks from anyone who participates in Gothtember this year and wishes to be included, and this roundup may or may not be connected to a cheeky little g*veaway 👀 More info on that coming in September 🤭

I can’t believe we’re coming up on six years of Gothtember already 😭 I am beside myself with excitement to see what looks you beautiful people will conjure up!! And as always, feel free to express yourself through all kinds of mediums in addition to makeup; nail art, digital art, drawings, paintings, etc are all welcome too, and you don’t have to identify as a goth to participate!

Finally had time to do my fourth look with the Multichromatica x Fantasy Cosmetica Cosmic Cove palette*!! I’ve been a busy bean offline and also battling the sweltering summer heat 😮‍💨🥵 but the stars finally aligned for me to do this lewk and I am pretty happy with it! It almost got away from me several times (putting shimmer on my brow bone is never as quick and easy as I think it’s going to be) but I am pleased with the final results 🙂‍↕️
