When a woman named Grecia went missing in the Mexican state of Chiapas on the night of April 12 2026 police immediately activated the Alba Protocol, a formal search mechanism specifically designed to find missing women as quickly as possible.

Officers turned to the most obvious source for her photo. Her social media.
They pulled images from her profiles, printed them on missing persons posters and distributed them across her town of Ocozocoautla de Espinosa. Then the calls started coming in.

People who knew Grecia personally were confused. The woman in the posters did not look like her. Not approximately. Not close enough. Not like her at all. Every photo she had posted online had been so heavily edited with filters that her actual face was essentially unrecognizable.

The posters stayed up. They were largely useless.

Grecia was found several days later on a highway outside town. The circumstances of her disappearance are still under investigation.

Her case prompted a formal response from Mexico's National Search Commission for Missing Persons, which confirmed that this is not an isolated problem. Social media filters and AI editing tools are now routinely making missing persons posters unreliable across the country. The commission has been aware of the issue for some time. They have not yet found a solution.

Their hope is anchored in what cannot be stolen. So don’t envy the fleeting success of the godless. Don’t trade eternal joy for temporary gain. What is built on sin will crumble.
