Ready for healthier, more beautiful hair? I’m Susie — and I’ve packed years of salon know-how into these simple, professional tips to help your hair thrive in Bonita Springs’ sun and humidity. 🌞
Do you know your hair type? Fine, thick, curly or straight — the right products and routine make all the difference. Hydration, gentle care, and weekly masks (think argan or shea) stop dryness and breakage. Love heat styling? Always use a protectant and aim for fewer heat days. ✂️
If you’re managing hair loss related to conditions like lupus, choose sulfate-free, soothing shampoos and check with your dermatologist before trying new products. Small daily habits — lukewarm washes, silk pillowcases, and balanced nutrition — add up fast. 🥗💧
At Just Beauty by Susie I offer precision cuts, expert color, and Keratin/Brazilian treatments tailored to your needs. Want a personalized plan to reach your hair goals? Let’s chat — your hair deserves the best care. Book a consult or read the full guide: https://wix.to/nK3YDHR

Do you ever wonder why your hair feels dry, dull, or frizzy no matter what products you try? I see this all the time — hard water (hello, calcium and magnesium) can build up on the hair shaft and make color fade, cause brassy tones in blondes, increase tangles, and even make shampoos not lather.
Here’s what I suggest: use a clarifying or chelating shampoo 1–2x weekly, add a moisturizing mask and leave-in oil, and consider installing a shower filter or water softener if you’re in the Bonita Springs area. For stubborn buildup, ingredients like EDTA, citric acid, or a vinegar rinse can help.
Want help diagnosing if hard water is the culprit for your hair? I’d love to take a look and recommend a plan — from precision color correction to keratin-friendly care. Book a consultation or read more on the blog: https://wix.to/usZJKaZ

The effects of hard water on your hair:
Hard water can have a big impact on your hair and scalp over time because it contains high levels of minerals like calcium and magnesium. Those minerals build up on the hair shaft and scalp, making hair harder to manage and less responsive to products.
Here are the most common effects:
Signs hard water may be affecting your hair
Hair feels dry, rough, or “coated”
Dullness or lack of shine
Increased tangling
Frizz and breakage
Blonde hair turning brassy or orange
Color fading faster
Hair extensions feeling stiff
Scalp dryness or itchiness
Shampoo not lathering well
Hair feels heavy even after washing
Why it happens
The minerals create a film on the hair that blocks moisture from getting in. This buildup can also prevent conditioners, masks, and color treatments from working properly.
If you have color-treated hair
Hard water is especially rough on:
blondes
vivid/fashion colors
keratin-treated hair
extensions
Mineral deposits can oxidize color and make blondes look brassy or greenish.
Ways to help protect your hair
Use a clarifying or chelating shampoo 1–2 times weekly
Install a shower filter or water softener
Use moisturizing masks regularly
Finish with a leave-in conditioner or lightweight oil
Avoid overusing heat tools on already dry hair
Rinse with filtered or bottled water occasionally if buildup is severe
Ingredients that help remove mineral buildup
Look for:
EDTA
citric acid
apple cider vinegar
activated charcoal
Salon perspective
If a client’s hair suddenly feels resistant to color, uneven with lightener, or chronically dry despite good products, hard water is often part of the issue.
