MTHFR is just one piece of the methylation puzzle.
Other genes involved in folate metabolism can also impact how your body processes and uses folate, even if you don’t have an MTHFR variant.
Join Dr. Chad Yarbrough, Debi Bryk, BCHN, and Dr. Don Thompson for our upcoming Genetics Roundtable Live Q&A as they dive deeper into methylation, folate metabolism, and what a more comprehensive approach to genetic testing can tell you.

MTHFR is important, but it’s not the whole story🧬
It’s easy to get caught up in one gene and miss the bigger picture. Before jumping straight to supplements or “fixing” MTHFR, there are foundational factors that matter too.
Genetics can give you a roadmap, but you still have to look at the whole picture.

If you have an MTHFR variant, you’ve probably heard that you need methylfolate, but it’s not always that simple👀
Some people may benefit from methylfolate, while others can be sensitive to higher doses and experience things like headaches, irritability, or stomach upset.
More isn’t always better. Start low, go slow, and remember that there are other ways to support folate metabolism, including folinic acid and folate-rich foods.
