BIG IDEA: Hire a branding designer for your retreat 🤯

As people crave human connection again, I see retreats popping up all over the place. Here’s some reasons why this would take your retreat to a whole new level ⬆️

1️⃣ I don’t see this done often. STAND 👏🏼 OUT 👏🏼

A lot of people will give their retreat a name, but they use their normal business branding to market it. Creating a “sub-brand”,if you will, for your retreat will help you stand out while still being recognizable next to your main umbrella brand of your business!

2️⃣ This makes your event MEMORABLE AF.

Imagine giving a retreat branded gift bag to all your guests. Your retreat has its own logo that you put on tumblers, and every time your guests use them they think back to the super fun memories you all made!

3️⃣ Generate buzz.

You can create retreat GIFs for all your guests to use on stories, create a retreat hashtag, send out snail mail before the retreat with branded stickers to get everyone pumped, etc. YUP, that is all about branding!

A lot of designers over the past 5 years have adopted the one concept method, and I even tried it for a while.

But after a few projects, it just wasn’t sitting right. I really enjoy presenting my clients with three strong concepts and letting them choose which one feels good.

The only sad part is for every project we have two beautiful concepts that end up staying in the for forever 😭 Pictured here was one of the other concepts for Mind Body Baby, where the super simple shapes each represent the mind, the body, and the baby.

If you’re a designer, do you do the one concept method or present multiple concepts? And if you’re a business owner, would you rather just be given a final concept, or see multiple and pick?

Your website is not just a pretty corner on the internet. It’s not just for listing your prices and testimonials.

One quick tip to make your website work harder for you:

👉🏼 Add your affiliate links to your website for added income streams. Not an affiliate for anyone? You’d be surprised how many products you use in business that have affiliate sign ups! Go to their website and check the footer for affiliate info.

For example, I’m an affiliate for (a web hosting and domain name company), for (the Wordpress plugin I use to easily design websites), and for (my favorite physical planners) 💸 I signed up for these programs by just looking on their website and was approved right away!

A business name can really make or break your brand. A great business name will set the stage for an even greater brand!

On its 6th business anniversary, Twelve One Design is relaunching, refocusing, and revamping 🏴

The last 6 years have been a winding road for this business, but the last few months have brought a lot of introspection. I, Whitney, have had time to evaluate what I want this business to be, who I want to help, and what kind of life I want to live.

In the last 6 years we have created 15+ brands and 20+ websites and served 30+ happy clients. 3 of those 6 years I was golfing competitively. I got married, moved to Arizona, bought a house, and became a mom. Much like my life, this business has changed, evolved, grown, shrunk, stumbled, and succeeded.

Most of the time running your own business is trial and error. The past 6 years have given me many opportunities for a lot of trial and A LOTTTTT of error. As we approach the 6th biz-versary of TOD, I’m excited to announce where all the trial and error has finally led us to! (Even though the trial and error never ends and we will always evolve and adapt 😂)

This pandemic brought about a lot of negative things, but one positive thing was that it led Margaux and Miranda to start their new staging and interior design business 🛋 and they chose me to help them build a brand and website for their new adventure ✨
