Do you know the difference between primary and secondary headaches?

When dealing with headaches it is important to understand the classification of your headache, as sometimes headaches can be more than just a pain in the head.
β
Primary headaches are when the headache itself is the issue, with no underlying disease.
β
Secondary Headaches, on the other hand, are caused by other conditions and can be a warning sign of something more serious like brain tumors, aneurysms, or infections.
β
Secondary headaches require immediate medical attention, while primary headaches, though frustrating, won't harm you.
β
But there's more to managing primary headaches than medication or stress reduction.
β
Your body's trying to tell you something.

Did you know that your brain is made up of billions of nerve cells that communicate with each other and the rest of your body?
These cells are supported by blood vessels, fluid, connective tissue, and bones that allow them to function correctly and protect them from damage.
But sometimes, things can go wrong with this delicate system and cause you to experience headaches π
Headaches are one of the most common health problems worldwide, affecting millions daily.
However, not all headaches are the same, and the cause of your pain may not be obvious.

I was in my teens before I realized that not everyone lived with a headache as a constant companion the way I did.
I thought having a headache was normal.
But headaches are not normal, and they are not something you have to live with.

There are three common reasons why a body can't physically relax:
- There is a mechanical dysfunction compressing the nerves.
- Your cells need support (either too much trash in the extra-cellular space, or missing nutrients, most commonly magnesium).
- Something is keeping you in fight/flight/freeze (emotional stress or the after effects of trauma, etc).
So if you are struggling to relax, maybe flip the way you are thinking about relaxation, and try looking at it body up.

Dysfunctions in the dura can lead to head, neck, and backaches, among other pain, limited movement, scoliosis, or any other spine related dysfunctions. If you are struggling with any of those, and traditional methods arenβt helping, find someone to evaluate and treat your dura.

Something I say a lot is βPain doesn't always mean what you think it doesβ.

Everyone assumes their overall health is safe and secure, but what happens when it's not?
Sometimes, you have a clear sense your health is changing; and sometimes, you don't. Most of the time, even if it feels like your health is gone, itβs actually still there, but it's gotten buried underneath pain and dysfunction.
Everyone has their own magical combination that will bring their health back to them. But here is a simple way I break down the process of finding your health again:
Think about these big buckets and how you are doing in each area:
π Movement
π Connection
π Nourishment
π Environment
So this is your reminder to check in with yourself. Is your health still there?
If you can't find it, take a breath. You will find it again.
