HAPPY KWANZAA!

Kwanzaa is an African American and Pan-African holiday that celebrates history, values, family, community, and culture (deeper explanation-second slide). It’s celebrated for 7 days and each day has a meaning. Today means Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility). Specifically, to build and maintain our community together and make our community’s problems our problems and to solve them together.

One of our biggest problems today is the disadvantages of Black-Owned Businesses. Specifically, 82% of employer businesses are white-owned, while 2.7% are Black-owned, Black-owned businesses are less likely to be fully approved for financing and are more likely to be offered high interest rates and delay expansion plans, Black-owned businesses are generally smaller and have higher closure rates. Last but not least, Black-owned businesses have lower sales and profits than white-owned businesses.

Sharing this knowledge to those who don’t know is our duty as an Black and Afro-Latina owned company. Also, showing awareness that supporting all black owned businesses will propel us forward away from disadvantage statistics. Support a businesses and help to be the change.
