My son hated getting his nose cleaned. Full resistance. Full drama. Every single time.
So one day — I do not know what came over me — I turned to the dog, puffed up my chest, and announced in my best Bronx street vendor voice
“BOOGER CHIPS. HOT AND READY.”
My son froze.
Then laughed so hard he forgot to fight me.
The dog looked up with interest and honestly that was not reassuring at all.
But the nose got cleaned. Victory is victory. You take what you can get in this house.
I have been doing this for three weeks. It works every time. I am not proud. I am also not stopping.
To every parent who has invented something ridiculous that actually worked — this one is for you. We are all just out here surviving with whatever tools we have. 😂

Every. Single. Time. 😭
The universe has a very specific sense of humor and it is entirely at the expense of parents who just want to stay horizontal past 7am.
You dream about it all week. You count down to it. You protect it. You tell your partner. You make it the thing you are looking forward to.
And the school calendar finds out. Every time. I do not know how it knows. I do not know who is reporting back. But it knows. No school Monday. Somewhere a toddler is already planning what he wants to do at 5:45am.
