It’s never too early or too late !! A lot of therapist won’t work on pregnant women during their first trimester because of lack of knowledge, and/ or fear. Fear of doing something wrong, being sued or causing miscarriage. Spoiler alert 🚨DOES NOT CAUSE MISCARRIAGE, just like foot massage doesn’t cause contractions or put you in preterm labor. If it happens, it was most likely going to happen anyway- because the likelihood of a miscarriage is higher during this time. Now of course there are certain contraindications during pregnancy, but this isn’t one of them. So if you’re in your first trimester and thinking about getting a massage, DO IT! But just make sure it’s with a skilled and knowledgeable prenatal massage therapist 👌🏾😌

I use orthopedic support bodyCushions which are fully adjustable, and can separate and elevate to accommodate (hey that rhymes 😆) a growing belly. This allows you to lay face down safely and comfortably without any pressure on your belly. I can also position you on your side using the same Cushions and it feels just as great!

Do you have a hard time turning your brain off when you’re on the massage table ?
If you drink coffee, have a chattering mind or tend to feel anxious or overwhelmed, It can be hard to instantly relax when you get on the table. If this is you, try using the five senses grounding technique. The concept is for you to engage the five senses to bring your mind back to the present moment. By Focusing on breathing, what the massage feels like, the sounds you hear, or the aromas you smell, you can redirect your awareness if you feel like you’re overthinking too much.
The goal in my studio is for you to have a sensory experience, so I’ve made sure to have different sensory inputs to create multiple pathways to catch your wandering attention. Plants, chocolate, essential oils, good music, the ocean sounds, the bodyCushion etc all serve a purpose here. My hope is that some combination of the sight/ sound/smell and especially touch you experience with me will bring your awareness to your body and out of your mind.
