One of the biggest reasons why artisan an independent perfume is so special is that it’s real.

It’s easy to look at the state of the world and despair, to feel like giving up, to feel like the only sane one in a crazy timeline.

The antidote is art and community.

We love our targeted algorithms, but they also give us an unsettling and inaccurate sense of being alone and singular.

We love creativity and entertainment but it feels like quality is declining and tech is replacing human creativity.

Hope is found in getting together to celebrate human art and stories, in places like the FUMED Indie Perfume Expo in Atlanta October 10-11.

Fight despair through community and connection. We are more, we are richer, we are stronger together.

Our concept is simple: in a post-human world, House of Mammoth wants to pull people back into the absurd and glorious mess of human reality.

We’re saying that this world, its environment and its people, is magical just as it is, and we celebrate it.

I’ve often said that being a “self-taught” perfumer is choosing to do perfumery on extreme hard mode. There’s no one to keep you accountable and disciplined. There’s no one to tell you the shortcuts and SOP. You have to figure it all out as you go along.

And that’s why I’m grateful to Luca Turin and anyone who takes the time to engage with my work. Especially when they have such nice things to say.

One day you’ll get to see the full revised branding and packaging we’ve been working on.

I can forgive Luca Turin for thinking the concept behind House of Mammoth is unnecessary, because based on what’s happened in perfume in the last five years, can you really blame him for thinking it?

Tons of meaningless releases, recycled ideas, forced concepts, all just there to hit the market quickly before the trend cycle spins around to another hot idea.

And yet, art perfume brands like House of Mammoth are pushing the industry forward, bringing fresh ideas for the bigs to copy.

They’ll take our ideas and feed them through high powered budgets and spit em back out with slick graphics and photoshoots, with meaningless Al drivel as copy. Their imitation juice will be limp and uninspiring, and people will buy it.

I’m not too concerned about the state of things. I’m too busy loving that I get to do this.

Luca Turin had some great things to say about House of Mammoth perfumes. But he also slammed indie brands for focusing on “concept.”
