Last night I wasn’t able to put words to my emotions. I flipped the open sign for the 12th year with a storefront/13th in business. This year I wasn’t expecting much, for multiple reasons. I flipped the closed sign to a successful day ❤️

While my expectations were low, the reality was people showing up to support small business. People who’ve shopped with me for years, those who never have; all for the simple reason yesterday of intentionally choosing to spend their time and money on small businesses.

The reality is that you can all buy skincare just about anywhere. You can def buy cheaper,& with fun packaging. Yesterday GRATITUDE weighed heavily on me bc on a year where I’d prepared not to have much, in walked all you amazing customers, with your spirit of support, wonderful stories of togetherness, & just the reminder to me that my store has provided so much more than skincare these past 12 years.

My store sign has been closed more this year. Pictured is why: my family. The double rainbow bestowed on us to care for & so I close when they need me, I close at 2:30 to pick them up from school every day bc it’s meaningful for them. I close if they need me for a field trip, appointments, etc.

My little shoppe & all of you have ebbed & flowed through chapters of my life these past 13 years,& you all have shown me grace, patience,& overwhelming support through it all. 🫶 Thank you seems simple, but from the bottom of my heart from myself, Maker Man,& the 2 CKOs (chief kid officers) J. It’s been a difficult decision to lessen our hours, but in order to be fiscally responsible, it is necessary. There’s no avoiding the price hikes in tarriffs on our raw goods, & raising prices isn’t ideal.

Summer is a slow time of year anyways,& 12 years with a storefront has taught that. So, the easier answer right now is to have less hours, less payroll, lower overhead a bit. I’m in a season of life where I can’t spend every day at the shop. I want to enjoy my kids. This week marked 3 years since they came into our lives,& I want them to know I prioritized them in their summers.

Our majoriy of sales right now are online, so our focus will shift to that being more efficient. The last month in addition to tarriffs, USPS has been as inefficient as ever. So thank you for patience.

Thank you all for understanding. I’ve always been straight forward and unfiltered with you all. This is a difficult time to navigate & make decisions but economically & of where I want MY time to be spent;& with my kids vs all day, every day in my storefront is the right answer. I’ll be back in Fall & in the meantime will be filling orders from home.

Happy 12th bday to my store too 🥹 12 years ago I flipped that sign,& it’s been about 12 lifetimes worth of ups and downs and in between & chapters written in that time 🫶❤️ forever grateful for this wild chance to live a dream, make others happy,& just do what I do.
A dear old friend remembers in 2nd grade when I said I wanted to be an entrepreneur when I grew up,& she thought it was a word I made up. 😂

This year isn’t easy, that’s no secret for any of my retail friends I’ve had a lot of consideration for if the business needed to change, store needed to close…& I even walk through skincare in big box places a lot lately & think “so much here, cheap stuff, beautifully packaged stuff, and it’s easy to pick something up while grocery shopping, and yet people still shop MY little out of the way store,& my website” …..thank you really isn’t enough. But for this lifelong dreamer it’s still hard to believe I created this & so many of you are the reason it’s thrived. (I’m also the daughter of a dreamer: my Dad, who’s birthday is today. And it’s no coincidence I chose it for my opening)
