This Valentine’s Day, our hearts are heavy. While we celebrate love, we cannot ignore the blood shed for it. 🥀
We are broken-hearted for the brave people of Iran, especially those who have lost their loved ones in the massacre. Love is not just a feeling, it is a human right. Freedom is not a luxury, it is a human right.
Today, we use our craft to honor those who have sacrificed everything. We wish for a world where love doesn't require such bravery, and where freedom belongs to everyone, everywhere. 🖤✊

I live and work in peace in the U.S., while watching people be killed in the streets of Iran.
Holding both realities at once is one of the hardest parts of being an immigrant.
I left Iran seeking liberty, equality, and the chance to grow. The only way out was through a student visa. I earned a second master’s degree, weathered the waves of the 2007 recession to maintain my status, and climbed to a VP role in a male-dominated industry I never loved.
Art, the one thing that lit me up, was never an option growing up. Survival came first. War, shortages, fear, and a system where even color, expression, and independence were forbidden.
At the peak of my career, I chose life over waiting. I left everything familiar, retrained in my forties, opened my studio, and returned to art through PMU and paramedical tattooing. It hasn’t been easy. But every time I feel exhausted, I remember how lucky I am to create freely, while so many equally talented people back home are still fighting, still silenced, still getting blind and dying for basic human rights.
This work is not just my profession. It’s my way of honoring resilience, of turning survival into creation. In my work, I choose beauty as an act of healing. I choose creation where once there was silence. This is how I honor where I come from, and why I continue.
Immigration leaves you split between two lands. one that shaped you, and one that gave you a second beginning. We carry grief quietly! We carry gratitude carefully!
