Yes this WAS in the films, but it was different. Found in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Chapter 31: The Battle of Hogwarts
Here’s how this went down in the books.
Harry initially asks Professor Flitwick if he knows where the diadem is. But Flitwick says that no one has seen the diadem in *living memory*. It takes a bit but Harry eventually connects the dots and asks Nearly Headless Nick where to find the Ghost of Ravenclaw Tower. Nick ultimately says “if it’s ghostly help you need, I can help” to which Harry urges for the Ravenclaw ghost. Nick points her out in the Great Hall, and upon being seen, the Grey Lady floats away haughtily.
In the book she is NOT shy. She’s very proud and haughty. And ultimately very embarrassed about how Tom Riddle tricked her.
