"Stay away from sugar."
If it were that easy, noone would have it.

Type 1 diabetes isn’t just “watching his sugar.”
For us, insulin is life support.
Too little can lead to DKA. Too much can cause a severe low, seizures, unconsciousness, or death.
It can happen at school, during exercise, when he’s sick, or while he sleeps.
His pump and CGM help tremendously—but they don’t replace a functioning pancreas.

Things that NOONE TOLD ME.
Don't think they have told you everything! Ask all you want but research everything yourself.

You second guess everything. Then, every so often, the things are all working at one time. Thank God. The stress is real.

High alert again. We aren't in range but it could have been worse.

Service dog. Hard at work. Last time she boated she alerted a HIGH on another kid. Specific to THAT child. Are they supposed to do that? No. She was rewarded anyway. This is her boat?

Endocrinology requested that dessert be served on his dinner plate as part of the meal. The idea is that dessert isn't a treat but it is just part of the meal. We definitely need some adjustments.
