Xena: Warrior Princess freely borrows names and themes from various mythologies around the world, mostly Greek, anachronistically adapting them to suit the demands of the storyline. Historical figures and events from a number of completely different historical eras and myths make numerous appearances, and the main characters are often credited with solving important situations. In particular, they include meetings with Homer, before he became famous, whom Gabriel urges to tell about his aspirations; the fall of Troy; capture of Caesar by pirates led by Xena, etc.

Xena: Warrior Princess is a television series in the genre of historical fantasy, the plot of which unfolds, first of all, in ancient Greece. However, it is quite flexible in time and place and borrows ancient mythological elements from Egypt, India, China, Central Asia, and medieval Europe. The flexible structure of the fantasy TV show accommodates a significant range of theatrical styles — from high melodrama to comedy farce, with features of musical, all-out action and adventure. At a time when the series is usually set in ancient times, its themes are essentially modern, the plot meaningfully explores the principle of taking responsibility for past sins, the value of human life, personal freedom and sacrifice, friendship (especially female) and love . The TV series often touches on ethical dilemmas, such as the morality of pacifism. However, the plot itself rarely seeks to morally lead the audience to unambiguous decisions.

The series received much higher ratings and popularity than its predecessor. The show was canceled in 2001 after a three-year long slump in ratings. The series later received cult status, a lot of fandom attention, parodies and awards that have already influenced other TV series.

The show is a spin-off of the television series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys; the future saga began with three episodes in the television series about Hercules, where Xena was a recurring character. Her third appearance was originally planned to be her last. However, realizing that Xena has become very successful among the public, the producers decided to create a spin-off based on her adventures. The project became successful, aired in more than 108 countries around the world since 1998. Xena's success spawned hundreds of other products, including comics, books, video games, and conventions held annually since 1998 in Pasadena and London.

The first European to sail the entire length of the river from mouth to source in 1639 was the Portuguese Pedro Teixeira. One of his companions, the Jesuit Cristobal de Acuña, printed the first description of a journey through the Amazon.

“But even now, rivers of such amazing magnitude are being opened and discovered that they seem more like bays of the sea than rivers flowing on land. So it seems from what many Spaniards who passed from the adelantado Orellana [Orillana] claim, who say that the river descending from Peru to the northern sea (that river is usually called [the river of the tribe] Amazons (de los Amazonas), or Marañon ( del Maranon) - has a length of more than a thousand leagues, and in places more than 25 wide.

Today it is believed that they were either Indian women who fought side by side with men, or simply long-haired Indians, whom the Spaniards mistook for women. Initially, de Orellana wanted to name the river after himself, but after the fight, he settled on the "Amazon" variant.

The Amazon was discovered by the conquistador Francisco de Orellana. Being in the west of South America, he and his detachment of conquistadors discovered a small river, considered that it flows into the Pacific Ocean, and decided to raft along it with his detachment to the Pacific Ocean. However, the river - the Amazon - turned out to flow into the Atlantic Ocean, as a result, Orellana, rafting down the Amazon, was the first European to cross South America in its widest part. In the summer of 1542, his detachment allegedly saw a tribe of legendary Amazons and entered into battle with them

The Amazon is full of water throughout the year, since seasonal fluctuations in runoff are smoothed out by different times of the onset of the rainy season on its right and left tributaries. The rise of water in the northern and southern tributaries of the Amazon occurs at different times of the year. When the water rises, the river floods vast areas, forming impenetrable swamps.

Flowing mainly along the Amazonian lowland in a sublatitudinal direction near the equator to the south of it, the Amazon flows into the Atlantic Ocean, forming one of the largest deltas in the world (over 100 thousand km² in area and including one of the largest river islands in the world - Marazho).
The Amazon is fed by numerous tributaries, the most significant of which are: the right ones - Zhurua, Purus, Madeira, Tapajos, Xingu, Tocantins; left - Putumayo, Japura, Rio Negro.
