What a BEAUTIFUL and WONDERFUL wedding!!! The happy tears just never stop. Even as I tried to narrow down these pictures.

My younger sister, Lily, got married on 5/30 to the man of her dreams on the lake shores in Okoboji. 🩵

To say we are all excited and overjoyed would be an understatement!! I’m so lucky to be this girl’s sister, then her maid of honor AND hairstylist for the big day!

(Shout out to one of the best makeup artists I know who KILLED 🔥 Lily’s bridal makeup!! )

Lily and her newly wed husband are currently enjoying a honeymoon on a Caribbean cruise soaking in the sun on beautiful beaches and surrounded by crystal clear blue waters 🚢 💙

Hi there! 👋🏻 I know I've been quiet for a while.⁠
⁠
It's been hard to come up with words lately - mainly because I’ve felt this coming for a while now before we were ever formally told... and it's been hard to balance Joe's health with work.

💕 I'd like to take a moment to share a little bit of my life with you.

Some of you have known about our journey from the beginning and some of you might be just finding out about the battle Joe has been fighting for close to 6 years.

As you know, cancer shows no favoritism.

Joe started his battle with an extremely rare and aggressive Thyroid cancer March 2016 that was already metastatic to his lymph nodes and lungs when found. What a shock to all of us, I think we are still numb from the diagnosis. I know, I can speak for my everyone in saying, we would have rather won the Powerball. Sorry, just need to add some humor because who doesn’t like to laugh and cry? 😅

The past 2 or so years have been very hard on Joe, especially this last year. He has had…

✅ several rounds of radiation
✅ multiple different chemo regiments
✅ and even more radiation…

We've always had good luck with radiation - it shrinks the tumors that have been causing the most trouble, or as his mom likes to say, “not playing nice in the sandbox.“ (there's that humor again lol)

The chemo is another story... the cancer is a smart SOB and seems to be smarter than the chemo.

Last Tuesday he was hospitalized with pneumonia, but with the progression of his tumors, we've officially exhausted all treatment options. We were given sad news that we only have a matter of days-weeks left with him on Wednesday.

Luckily, Joe was well enough to visit with most of those closest to him. 💕 Our hope is to get our pup, Bailey, in here tonight.

Some of you have already reached out to me since you follow our Facebook group 💜 Joe’s Cancer Journey 💜 - I want to say thank you for all your kind words and love. It's been difficult to keep up but please know your love and support does not go unnoticed.

That being said, I will be taking a temporary leave from work. I don't know for how long, but I definitely need time to be with Joe and family.

I know I've always been open about my mental health on here so I thought it might be time to give a little update.⁠⁠

I started medication a couple months ago and it's definitely been trial and error but I can feel myself getting better slowly! Panic attacks have lessened, I have more motivation, and I'm able to enjoy things again.⁠⁠

I've been living on doing only the bare minimum of tasks. I'm so happy to say that I am feeling that spark of passion again and am beginning to resume doing things that once brought me joy! 🙌🏻⁠⁠

Now all I need to do is clean my house which is a DISASTER...then begin purging and packing for our move. Wish me luck! 😅 ⁠⁠
