Five Ayurvedic powders I keep coming back to for healthy hair: flaxseed, Brahmi, Bhringraj, Amla and hibiscus.
Flaxseed powder — rich in plant-based nutrients and mucilage, and traditionally used to help condition and support soft, manageable hair.
Brahmi powder — an Ayurvedic herb traditionally used in hair and scalp care, especially in oil and mask preparations.
Bhringraj powder — one of Ayurveda’s best-known herbs for hair care, traditionally used to nourish the scalp and support healthy-looking hair.
Amla powder — naturally rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, and traditionally used in Ayurvedic hair rituals to condition and support the appearance of strong, healthy hair.
Hibiscus powder — traditionally used in hair masks and oils to help condition the hair and support softness, shine and healthy-looking strands.
And this is just the beginning. Follow me to see how I use each of these powders in simple hair-care recipes.

If your waves need a little more volume, this simple egg, honey and Brahmi hair mask is worth adding to your hair ritual. Egg gives the mask a rich, conditioning base, honey helps with hydration, and Brahmi has been traditionally used in Ayurvedic hair care.
DIY Hair Mask
1 egg
1 tsp honey
1 tbsp Brahmi powder
Whisk the egg well, then add the honey and Brahmi powder. Mix until you have a smooth mask. Apply to the hair, focusing on the lengths and roots, leave for 15–20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with cool or lukewarm water and shampoo as usual.

I make my flaxseed gel a little differently — with flowers, herbs, and orange peel.
It turns a simple flaxseed gel into a beautiful botanical ritual that feels just as good to make as it is to use.
Save this for your next self care day.
Recipe
• 1 tbsp flaxseeds
• A few pieces of dried orange peel
• 1 tsp dried lavender
• 1 tsp dried rosemary
• 1 tsp dried jasmine
• A small handful of fresh rose petals
• 2 cups water
Add everything to a pot and bring to a gentle boil. Simmer until the water becomes slightly thick and slippery from the flaxseeds.
Turn off the heat and let it sit for a little while. Strain while still warm, pressing the flaxseeds well to extract the gel.
Let cool and store refrigerated. Use fresh and discard if it changes in smell, color, or texture.

A simple little antioxidant-rich face mask made with strawberries, blueberries and yogurt.
I love recipes like this because they don’t need a long ingredient list or complicated technique. Just blend, apply, and let your skin enjoy a little botanical goodness.
Strawberries and blueberries are naturally rich in antioxidant compounds, while yogurt provides lactic acid and a creamy base for the mask.
Simple skincare. Real ingredients. No need to make it complicated.
Recipe
Antioxidant Berry Face Mask
* 2–3 strawberries
* 1–2 tablespoons blueberries
* 1–2 tablespoons plain yogurt
How to make it:
Blend the strawberries, blueberries and yogurt until smooth. Transfer to a small bowl and apply a thin layer to clean skin.
Leave on for 10–15 minutes, then rinse gently with cool or lukewarm water and follow with moisturizer.
Tip: Patch test first, especially if your skin is sensitive. Fresh fruit masks can be irritating for some skin types.

Would you try a cleanser made fresh from botanicals? Tell me below.
I stopped buying cleansers
Not because I stopped cleansing my skin — I simply started making my own.
This little botanical dough is made with licorice, rose petals, oat, chamomile, lavender and bentonite clay, blended with oil to give it a softer, more hydrating feel.
I love that I can keep it as a little dough, take only what I need, add water, and turn it into a fresh cleanser right in my palm.
No big bottle sitting in the bathroom.
No complicated routine.
Just simple ingredients and a little ritual.
And honestly… I think skincare can be this simple.

Five beautiful herbs I keep coming back to for mature skin.
Each one has a different place in a botanical skincare ritual—from supporting the look of firmness and elasticity to calming, brightening and nourishing the skin.
simplest ingredients have the longest history.
Here’s how I like to use them ↓
1. Gotu Kola
Often used in botanical skincare for mature skin because of its traditional association with supporting the appearance of firmness and elasticity.
How to use: Infuse into oil for a facial oil, or use as an ingredient in a botanical mask.
2. Yarrow
Traditionally valued for soothing and balancing the skin, making it lovely for skin that feels sensitive or easily irritated.
How to use: Make a gentle herbal infusion for a facial compress or incorporate the dried herb into a powdered mask.
3. Chamomile
A classic calming botanical, especially lovely when mature skin feels dry, delicate or reactive.
How to use: Infuse into water for a compress or into oil for a soothing facial oil.
4. Licorice
A beautiful botanical for dull-looking or uneven-looking skin and one I especially love for brightening-focused skincare.
How to use: Use licorice powder in a face mask or as part of a water-based botanical preparation.
5. Blue Pea
Rich in naturally occurring plant compounds and traditionally used in beauty rituals for its antioxidant-rich botanical profile.
How to use: Infuse the dried flowers into water and use the cooled infusion in a mask or facial mist.
Important: These are botanical skincare ingredients, not miracle cures—and patch testing is always a good idea, especially with concentrated herbal preparations.
