y valuable, capable, talented and worthy. I’m Linda Barnby. I created Woman Over Fifty as a community where women could share in the joys of being in a stage of life where our wisdom and experience have finally caught up with our beauty and grace. (teehee!)

Woman Over Fifty is a place where you can come for sanctuary from the demoralizing, anti-age marketing messages that, left unchecked, can become soul-crushing. We’ve been told all our lives how we, as young girls and young women, were expected to behave. Many of us fell into roles where we willingly and gladly chose to subjugate our own dreams and desires to the needs of our husbands, children, employers and career. Too few of us have broken free of the stereotypes and the roles expected of us to focus on who we really are and what we could become given a little encouragement and nurturing. If you’ve reached (or passed!) the venerable, landmark year in your life that marks the half-way point in your life, I honor and congratulate you. Achieving the age of fifty and beyond is an accomplishment to be celebrated. Perhaps the demands on your time have begun to lessen. Your load is lighter. You may feel freer to think about turning on your light and letting it shine. Those brave enough to step into the spotlight and be who they truly are inspire and motivate the rest of us. So now, if you’re ready, you have my permission and the permission of every woman in this community to create the you and the life you’ve always known you deserve. When YOU give yourself that permission – well, we’d better all hold onto our hats! What do you want to do in the second half of your life? Start a business? Write a novel?
