Low testosterone in men doesn’t always look like a low s*x drive.

Sometimes it looks like:

• Constant fatigue, even after sleeping
• Losing muscle or strength despite working out
• More belly fat or a slower metabolism
• Lower libido or changes in erections
• Brain fog, poor focus, or low motivation
• Irritability, mood changes, or less confidence
• Poor sleep or waking up unrefreshed
• Slower recovery after workouts

Testosterone affects far more than s*xual function. It plays a role in muscle, bone density, energy, mood, cognition, body composition, and s*xual health.

But here’s the important part: these symptoms are not specific to low testosterone. Thyroid issues, sleep apnea, medications, stress, metabolic health, depression, and other conditions can look very similar.

So don’t diagnose low testosterone from symptoms alone.

A proper evaluation should include symptoms + medical history + appropriately timed testosterone testing, with additional labs when indicated.

Estrogen affects far more than hot flashes. 🧠🦴❤️

As estrogen declines in peri/menopause, it can affect brain clarity, sleep, temperature regulation, bone health, cardiovascular health, skin, and joints.

HRT isn’t one-size-fits-all. The right form, dose, timing, and individual risk factors matter.

Vaginal estrogen can be incredibly helpful for dryness, burning, discomfort, and urinary symptoms, but sometimes the cream itself creates a little confusion downstairs. đź‘€

Clumpy or thick discharge after starting vaginal estrogen does not always mean a yeast infection. Sometimes it’s simply excess cream or the vaginal base coming back out, especially if a larger amount is placed higher in the canal.

But if you also have itching, burning, irritation, or odor, don’t assume it’s just the estrogen. Check with your healthcare provider to rule out yeast or another vaginal infection.

đź’ˇ A few tips that may help:
• Use only the amount prescribed
• Ask whether a smaller, more concentrated dose is appropriate
• Apply at bedtime
• If irritation keeps happening, ask about a different formulation or compounded base

Why do some people take testosterone injections twice a week instead of once weekly?

Splitting the same weekly testosterone dose into 2 smaller subcutaneous injections may help create more consistent testosterone levels with smaller peaks and troughs. For some patients, this may help with the “peak-and-crash” feeling or peak-related androgenic side effects.

But twice weekly isn’t automatically better. If once-weekly testosterone is working well and your symptoms and labs are appropriate, there may be no reason to change.
🌺Save this for your next TRT conversation and share it with someone on a testosterone replacement therapy journey.

You don’t have to wait until your periods completely stop to ask about HRT.

For some women, treatment may be considered during perimenopause when symptoms like hot flashes, poor sleep, mood changes, vaginal dryness, or irregular cycles start affecting daily life.

It’s not about being “too young.” It’s about your symptoms, health history, risk factors, and choosing the right treatment for you.

Part. 1. Many people have heard of menopause, but fewer know that men can also experience age-related hormonal changes.

Andropause is the gradual decline in testosterone that can occur as men get older. Unlike menopause, it doesn’t happen overnight, and symptoms can have many different causes.

If you’re experiencing fatigue, low libido, loss of muscle, mood changes, or brain fog, don’t assume it’s “just aging” or that testosterone is automatically the answer. Sleep, stress, thyroid function, medications, nutrition, chronic health conditions, and other hormone imbalances can all play a role.

The first step is a thorough evaluation, not guessing.

The good news? Early treatment can help.

Here’s what I tell my patients:

🌺Hair loss is often caused by more than one factor, including hormones, genetics, thyroid problems, low iron, low vitamin D, stress, illness, or certain medications.

🌺Thickening shampoos and styling products can make hair look fuller, but they usually don’t treat the underlying cause.

🌺Leave-on scalp treatments generally stay in contact with the scalp much longer than rinse-off products, which may allow active ingredients more time to work.

🌺 remains one of the most studied treatments for female pattern hair loss. Depending on the cause, some women may also benefit from medications like spironolactone, topical or oral anti-androgen therapy, low-level laser therapy, microneedling, PRP, or correcting nutrient deficiencies.

The biggest mistake?

Waiting until you’ve lost half your hair before asking for help.

Hair follicles that are becoming smaller are often easier to treat than follicles that have been inactive for years.

✨ Don’t just cover up hair loss. Find out why it’s happening.

The sooner you identify the cause, the more options you have to protect the hair you still have.

Did HRT really make you gain 5 pounds… or is your body still adjusting?

A few pounds in the first weeks of HRT doesn’t always mean you’ve gained fat. Temporary fluid retention, appetite changes, and your body’s adjustment to new hormone levels can all play a role.

Before you give up on HRT, give your body time and work with your provider if symptoms or weight continue beyond a few months.

✨ Save this for later and share it with someone who’s worried about weight gain after starting HRT. Follow for Part 3, where I’ll explain why your hormone labs can look “perfect” but you still don’t feel like yourself.
