This is a post that I probably should have made by now, but I'm struggling to find a way to say everything I'd like to say in a single Facebook post, but I'm going to give it a try.
I know there has been lots of speculation, and I've already spoken to some of you in person, but please allow me to set the record straight.
Saturday March 23 will be the last operating day for Erv's Barber Shop.
I guarantee right now some of you are like WHAAATTTT??!?!!?
Hear me out...

Orono has been my home for alot of years, and it has been a wonderful place to not only grow a successful business, but to also build many treasured relationships. Some of you I've known since the beginning, some for not quite as long. I've seen graduations, marriages, watched kids grow, and sadly lost a few souls along the way. I am happy to say I consider most of you to be not customers, but friends.
But as we all know, the only constant in life is change. And I have decided it is time for me to make a change.
This is not a decision I take lightly or have made overnight. Owning a business is hard, and doing so while working behind the chair is harder. It's been a great experience, I've learned alot of lessons (many of them the hard way) and I wouldn't trade my experience here for the world. But at this point in my life, I'm happy to let someone else take the reigns, and put all my effort into setting new goals, gaining new skills, and being one of the greats in my field.
Again, this was not a decision I made overnight, Last fall I opted to invest in myself and registered to attend a class at the Redken Exchange NYC. I was incredibly nervous, but it turned out to be a wonderfully life changing experience, and has inspired me to further my education by participating in their career path program, ultimately becoming a Certified Redken Specialist.
I'm also beyond excited to be joining the team at Hilites Salon and Boutique in Ellsworth. Although I will be expanding my service menu there, I will still be offering the same style of haircutting that I do now, at a similar price point, by walk in or appointment. And while I hope to see some familiar faces, I also understand that it may be out of the way and not feasible for some. That's okay! I will be keeping this page open (although with a different name TBD) feel free to continue to follow and stay in touch!
Lastly, I really want to thank all of you. This is a bittersweet decision, but I can go knowing that Erv's Barber Shop was truly a success, and none of that would be without amazing customers. I appreciate each and every person who has walked through the door for the last 10+ years, and I wish everyone nothing but the best.
