Estate-grown lavender, steam distilled in a copper alembic pot still, thoughtfully made in the wine country of Paso Robles, California, since 2006. Central Coast Lavender Farm and Apothecary is a Paso Robles based health and beauty company. Founded in 2006 as a modern day lavender farm, distillery and apothecary, our products are medicinally focused and remedy based. CCL products are thoughtfully created and fueled by the healing power of botanicals and herbs. At Central Coast Lavender we seek balance between functionality and indulgence throughout our entire product line. Central Coast Lavender apothecary products are crafted in small batches in our manufacturing lab. With a strong commitment to luxury, only the highest quality ingredients go into our products. That means no drying sulfates, harsh parabens, or harmful fragrances. We believe that products should be both mindful and luxurious without compromise. The Beauty Nature Has To Offer
The chemicals that make common commercial products function are often bad for both your body and the environment. The cosmetics industry pours vast amounts of these chemicals into their personal care products because, to date, there is little or no required testing, monitoring of health effects, or even labeling requirements to prevent them from doing so and the general public is often unaware of their usage entirely. Central Coast Lavender's goal is to provide our customers with the safest alternatives to the harmful chemicals used in most cosmetics. By producing our products in small batches we can ensure that only the highest quality ingredients are used. We are continually researching and adding to our ingredient list making sure we are using the best and latest green alternative ingredients we can.
Twenty seasons ago, this is where it all began.
Paso Robles, spring of 2006. We planted our first field and waited. The following season the lavender answered with our first true harvest, abundant beyond anything we'd hoped, ready for the still. We had no idea then how much the lavender would teach us, or how much of our hearts we'd planted right along with it. Abbey grew up beside those rows. The light changed the color of the field all day long, and we never stopped watching.

Twenty years ago this last spring, I stood on bare ground with nothing but a vision and a few small cuttings.
Spring 2006. We prepared the first fields by hand. Kevin and I knelt in the dirt and tucked in lavender passed down and raised with care. Then we set two chairs at the edge of the rows, looked across the open field, and let ourselves dream about what this place might become.
That first acre of lavender changed my direction. It taught me how to grow, how to distill, and how to make an essential oil I could trust. Season by season, it became Central Coast Lavender.

On this last Friday of summer, I found myself looking through twenty years of lavender photographs. These are from the little patch that started it all.
When I started, I planted a small patch so I could learn how to distill the essential oil I needed for my own use. I didn’t understand the science then. I just knew it helped, and I wanted the real stuff.
But finding oil I could trust was another matter. What I was learning about adulteration troubled me, especially because this was something I needed for myself. So I went looking for people who could teach me how to grow and distill my own lavender.
We discovered that lavender grew well here, and that little patch began to change my direction. The patch became an acre, and eventually grew to more than 20,000 plants across seven acres. What began as a personal need gave birth to what would become my purpose.
Over the last twenty years, I have continued my education every year. I’ve been fortunate to learn from people who generously shared their knowledge and experience, and as the science advances, there is always more to understand.
That is what excites me about the Nose-to-Brain course I’m taking now. I enjoy seeing research help explain something I experienced personally, long before I understood why it was helping me.
For me, the most important thing is to keep improving my growing and distillation practices, year by year, and share what I learn to help better the industry. That matters deeply to me.

Happy Thursday!! Currently taking an advanced continuing education course with one of my favorite scientists, Robert Tisserand.
As an aromatherapist, continuing education is an important part of my craft. This week’s study, “Nose-to-Brain: CNS Disorders and Essential Oils,” is especially close to my heart. I’m looking forward to deepening my knowledge and sharing what I learn through my work, my experience and my continued commitment to education.
