Healthy hair starts with honesty.

This beautiful new client came in for a silk press and had about 6–7 inches of split ends. In the video I show three different trim levels where the hair could be cut.

Ideally, removing all the split ends would require cutting the highest level but hair decisions are always a collaboration between the stylist and the client. She wasn’t comfortable taking off that much length today, so we chose a trim level that she felt comfortable with.

Even removing a portion of damaged ends can help improve movement, shine, and overall hair health.

A true silk press isn’t just about getting the hair straight it’s about proper cleansing, conditioning, heat control, and protecting the integrity of your natural hair.

She still left with a flawless, healthy silk press finish and was happy with her results.

For this appointment we did a subtle A-line bob with minimal elevation in the occipital to keep the weight and structure. My client usually wears frontal ponytails, but this time we switched it up and did a 2x6 lace closure bob quick weave and it came out flawless. Super clean. Super structured. She loved it.

I used AI (ChatGPT) to break down angles and elevation just to show y’all how tools like this can be utilized in any industry. Whatever your craft is, whatever your career is you can use AI too.

How it started ➡️ how it’s going ✨

This client came to me for her first LuxPress Ultimate where we focused on removing damaged ends, restoring moisture, and setting a healthy foundation. Fast forward to today she’s now maintaining her hair with my LuxPress Basic service and has gained about 4 inches of healthy growth.

This is what consistency, trims, deep conditioning, and proper maintenance looks like over time. Healthy hair doesn’t happen overnight it happens with intention.

I’ll be in Houston February 12th – 16th — booking now!

During a sewin maintenance service, I’m shampooing both the extensions and the scalp, getting in between the braids to remove buildup and debris, and restoring moisture without disturbing the install.

After cleansing, I apply a scalp stimulant (like a rosemary based spray) and a leave-in conditioner to keep the scalp hydrated and healthy. Since the hair and braids are fully washed during maintenance, clients will sit under the dryer for up to 90 minutes to make sure the braids are completely dry underneath. This step is important to prevent sour braids, mildew, and scalp issues caused by trapped moisture.

For hair health, I only allow sew-ins to be worn 6–8 weeks max. Once the install is taken down, the natural hair should be trimmed, protein treated, and deep conditioned before going back into another sewin. Protective styling should protect the hair, not compromise it.
