It's such a vicious cycle. The hormone imbalances experienced with PCOS can cause weight gain and make it VERY difficult to lose weight but then they tell you to lose weight to fix your PCOS! It is enough to make you crazy. But all is not lost. There are ways to win this battle. It isn't a simple 1,2,3 quick fix but it can be done! Roasted Zaatar Veggie Flat bread (Serves 3)
What You Need:
½ red bell pepper
½ red onion
½ medium zucchini
8 French green beans
1 tsp. za’atar seasoning or Greek seasoning
1 tsp. olive oil
¾ cup (40g) cooked chickpeas
6 mini whole wheat flatbread or naan bread (can sub GF Bread)
6 tbsp. hummus or white bean dip
drizzle of balsamic glaze (optional)
What You Need to Do:
1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the zucchini, onions and red bell pepper into long strips. Cut the ends of the green beans and slice in half.
2. Toss your vegetables and chickpeas onto a baking tray lined with baking parchment and drizzle with olive oil and za’atar seasoning. Place the tray in the oven and bake for 15 minutes until the edges of vegetables have browned a little.
3. Once the vegetables have cooked, toast the flatbread or naan breads in the toaster. Spread 1 tablespoon of hummus onto each individual flatbread and top with the roasted chickpea and vegetable mixture. Drizzle with the balsamic glaze (optional).

These are classic points used in acupuncture to help control appetite. You can stimulate these points with pressure from your fingers or by pressing a fingernail into the point. Sometimes in life you just need chocolate! Right? Believe it or not by choosing wisely you can actually promote heart health with dark chocolate. 🍫
One study published in 2015 followed the health of over 20,000 people for 11 years and found that higher chocolate intake was associated with a lower risk of heart problems. The subjects who ate the most chocolate, only12 percent developed or died of cardiovascular disease during the study opposed to 17.4 percent of those who didn’t eat chocolate. ❤️
These benefits only apply to dark chocolate and not milk chocolate. In order to indulge while actually providing health benefits chose a chocolate with over 70% cacao.
Other benefits of chocolate include:

✔️Full for good gut microbes
✔️Improve cholesterol profile

Chickpea & Roasted Pepper Burgers
What You Need:
For the paprika mayonnaise:
5 tbsp. mayonnaise
1 tsp. smoked paprika
2 tsp. lemon juice
For the burgers:
1 small sweet potato
1 tsp. olive oil + 2 tbsp. extra for frying
1 clove garlic, minced
1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced
1 tsp. ground cumin
¼ tsp. chili powder
1x 14 oz. (400g) can chickpeas, drained
¼ cup (60g) roasted red pepper, drained, chopped
5 tbsp. panko breadcrumbs
2 tbsp. fresh parsley, finely chopped
salt & pepper
5 burger buns
lettuce leaves, to serve
What You Need to Do:
1. Make the paprika mayonnaise by mixing together the mayonnaise, smoked paprika and lemon juice. Season to taste with salt and set aside.
2. Boil the sweet potato in a small pot until tender, this will take approximately 15 minutes. Drain and cool before cutting into small cubes.
3. In a small skillet, warm 1 teaspoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic, jalapeño pepper, cumin and chili powder. Stir to combine and cook for a minute.
4. In a food processor, pulse the chickpeas until finely chopped, but not puréed. Transfer into a large bowl and add the roasted red peppers, panko breadcrumbs, parsley, sweet potato and garlic. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Using your hands, mix until well combined and then form the mixture into 5 patties.
5. Place the remaining olive oil in a large skillet over a medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for 3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
6. Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, top with a chickpea burger and spoon over the paprika mayonnaise. Serve immediately

The Bridge Pose in Menopause 🧘♀️
There are several yoga poses that are beneficial finding balance during menopause.
The bridge pose helps rest the heart and may help balance blood pressure and hormones.
This pose is also calming for the mind and nervous system. It can help relieve mood swings, hot flashes and tension headaches.
First lay on your back. Then place your feet flat on the floor about the distance apart equal to your hips.
Lay your arms flat next to your trunk.
Press the back of your shoulders and your feet into the floor and lift your hips up.
Your feet need to be pressed down actively and you can keep the knees from spreading out wide by engaging the inner thighs.
Clasp your hands behind your back.
Stay in that portion for 5 to 15 breaths.
Finally, release the arms rolling your spine down on an out-breath to come out from the pose.
