Based in Pensacola, FL when not on the road—specializing in crochet dreadlocks & members-only loc artistry rooted in freedom & self-expression. hello, my name is Emily May, I'm a traveling dreadlock artist/loctician, i am centrally located in Pensacola Florida but travel around the United States offering my services. i have 10 years' experience 6 of them spent learning the history, art, and technique of locs. this is my passion to create and be a part of anyone's loc journey.
Well, Sunflowers 🌻… the day I’ve been dreading for a long time has finally come.
As most of you know, I’ve always loved traveling in my truck. She has carried me 460,000 miles, coast to coast six times, through 46 states, and has been a huge part of my journey with Sunflower Loc’s.
But sadly, it’s time to retire her. 💔
This truck has been so much more than just a vehicle to me. She’s been my home on the road, my workspace, my adventure partner, and the reason I’ve been able to bring my craft to so many of you across the country. I’ll forever be grateful for every mile, every state, every client, and every memory she gave me. 🌻
But don’t fret — this isn’t the end of the tour! I already have a Plan B in place.
I’m flying back home to Pensacola, picking up a backup truck, and driving 16 hours straight back to North Carolina so I can get back on schedule and keep things moving.
Everyone who needed their appointment dates adjusted has already been contacted, so as of right now, everyone is still on schedule. ❤️
After this tour, I’ll be on the hunt for my next Ford — one that can hopefully carry me into the next chapter and another few hundred thousand miles of Sunflower Loc’s adventures.

Emily🌻 is officially hitting the road for her East Coast Central Tour! 🚐
We are currently looking at September 10th–16th for the South Carolina & North Carolina areas! 🌻
🌟These dates and locations are ESTIMATES while we continue building the schedule, so things may shift as bookings come in.

Sunflower D visited our Pensacola, Florida home location for a braid-in installation using a set she personally provided. 🥰✨
🌻 Braid-In Installations can last 6–12 weeks!
If you’re new to braid-ins, keep in mind that your first install can be an adjustment period. 🙈🤗 Depending on the person, a first install typically lasts around 4–6 weeks.
If you’re new to locs and starting with a braid-in set, I always recommend giving yourself at least 2 full weeks to adjust before deciding whether you want to continue or stop. 🫶🏻
✨ A little reminder about shedding:
Your natural hair will continue to shed while it’s inside the braid. Because of this, it’s completely normal for your hair to feel thinner after removing the set.
Your hair did NOT suddenly become thinner! 🤗
You’ve simply become accustomed to the added volume and thickness of your installed locs, so your natural hair may feel different when they’re removed.
With consistency, it can take several installations and some time to truly notice and experience the benefits of this protective style. 🌟💕
