Canada's western coast is home to the Haida tribe, renowned for their artistry and warrior heritage, evident in their tattoos. Using red and black ink, they adorned forearms, chests, thighs, upper arms, feet, and backs with traditional Haida tattoos called ki-da.
Anthropologist James Swan saw parallels between Haida totem pole carvings and tattoos, suggesting tattoos came first. Each mark held meaning, representing family names and totem affiliations like bear, beaver, wolf, or eagle.
Tattooed crests bestowed special powers and communicated social order, featuring stylized animals and mythical beings. Animals were considered wiser than humans, with the ability to transform.
In northern Canada and Alaska, tattooing dates back to 3,500 BC, evident in tattooed stone carvings and a 1,600-year-old Inuit mummy on St. Lawrence Island. However, the practice was nearly erased by missionaries a century ago.
Arctic women cherished tattoos as rites of passage and symbols of beauty. They marked transitions into womanhood and first periods with tattoos on the forehead and chin, respectively. Tattoos linked them to ancestors, ensuring recognition in the afterlife.
Despite the climate, facial, hand, and wrist tattoos were common. Each tribe had unique markings, reflecting legends and spiritual beliefs, symbolizing a deep connection to Mother Earth. Tattoos held profound meaning, preserving the rich heritage of Canada's indigenous peoples.

Tattooing in Australia boasts a rich history, with origins dating back over 5000 years. Derived from the Tahitian word "tatua," tattoos were used for diverse purposes, representing rights, rank, spirituality, and punishment. Even Egyptian mummies were found with fertility-related tattoos.
In the late 1700s, European convicts brought tattoos to Australia, using them to express emotions and experiences. Tattoos became symbols of hope and loyalty, with anchors symbolizing patriotism. The Golden Age of Tattooing, between the World Wars, saw tattoos embraced by soldiers and subcultures like bikers and punks.
Over time, tattoos shed their negative associations and transformed into a mainstream phenomenon, with celebrities and professionals sporting them. Today, one in every seven adults in Australia has a tattoo, making it a significant fashion statement in contemporary society.
From ancient origins to modern popularity, tattoos remain a cherished and evolving art form, leaving an indelible mark on Australian culture.

Luton Town Fan Honors Late Father with Head Tattoo โค๏ธโฝ๏ธ
A devoted Luton Town fan fulfilled a heartfelt promise to his late father by getting the team's badge tattooed on the back of his head. Micky Hyde made the pledge 20 years ago, vowing to do it if the team earned promotion to the Premier League. Unfortunately, his father, Terry Hyde, passed away in 2013 before witnessing the team's success.
Tattoo artist Trudi Woodward was initially hesitant to work on such a prominent tattoo but eventually crafted a masterpiece that includes the Luton Town badge, the date of Terry Hyde's passing, and the touching words "R.I.P DAD." Despite the pain, Micky embraced the tribute with pride, and locals have been astounded by his commitment to his late father's memory.
