How long until I know if my new skin care product is working???

Consistency is the key to great skin care, but if you're using products that don't work for too long, you could be missing out on the ones that really work. So how long should I be trying a new product before ditching it?

Technically, the answer depends on the active ingredients in the product you're using. However, a good rule of thumb is 6-8 weeks. There isn't a product on earth that will give you completely new skin in a couple of applications. Studies show that the most effective skin care ingredients on earth - retinoids, hydrolized collagen, Australian emu, bee venom, etc. - all take at least several weeks to show marked improvement. Keep in mind that many products only come in a 30-day supply.

Wow. Too easy. ...but there are some definite pros and cons.

Pros: First, if you were already going to be purchasing similar items, you're getting the money you paid back, plus the samples you didn't buy. Second, you can potentially get access to tens of thousands of brands that are exclusive to Amazon. (There are a lot of them!)

Cons: This isn't the customization you've come to know with ipsy. Amazon isn't yet as 'smart' about your specific skin type, tone, etc. In addition, you aren't likely to see the high dollar brands you're seeing on Sephora or Credo. ...at least not yet.

If this sounds like a good idea, you might want to move quickly. Amazon hasn't said what their subscription fee is going to ultimately be set it, only that it won't be its current $11.99.
