“why would you want those w**ds?”

this is mullein.

what most people see as an invasive w**d, we see as something to reach for before most things in a medicine cabinet.

it grows wild, asks for nothing, and still gives so much.

mullein has been used for generations to:

– support the lungs (coughs, congestion, bronchial irritation)
– act as a gentle expectorant (helps move mucus out)
– soothe dry, irritated throats
– help calm inflammation in the body
– support seasonal allergies + environmental irritation
– bring moisture to dry lungs (not just break up mucus)
– support the lymphatic system
– offer mild antimicrobial + antiviral support
– help with ear discomfort (as an infused oil, especially with garlic)
– support skin healing (minor irritation, dryness)
– act as a gentle relaxant for the respiratory system
– traditionally used for joint discomfort + aches
– support urinary health as a mild diuretic
– help the body during colds, flu, and lingering coughs

we dry the leaves, keep the flowers, and use it in a few different ways depending on what we need.

but also, this matters just as much as the benefits:

you need to know what you’re picking.

mullein is easy to identify once you know what to look for.

and only harvest from areas you trust.

no roadsides. no sprayed ditches. no places you’re unsure of.

because what’s growing on the land matters just as much as the plant itself.

it’s one of those plants that reminds me…
sometimes what we’ve been taught to pull out and throw away is actually something we were meant to use
