Understanding the how and why behind a product’s usage has always helped me stay consistent—and sunscreen is no exception.
Whether you’re addressing visible signs of aging reactively (after damage has already occurred) or proactively (before it begins), daily SPF is your first and most important step.🧴😎

Here’s how UV rays age the skin and why sunscreen is your first line of defense against aging skin:

1. Breakdown of Collagen and Elastin (UVA)
    •    UVA rays penetrate deep into the dermis (the skin’s thickest layer).
    •    They generate free radicals that damage collagen and elastin fibers.
    •    This leads to wrinkles, sagging, and loss of firmness.

2. Pigmentation and Dark Spots (UVB + UVA)
    •    Both UVA and UVB stimulate melanin production, which can cause:
    ◦    Sunspots
    ◦    Freckles
    ◦    Uneven skin tone
    ◦    Melasma

3. Thinning of the Skin
    •    Chronic UV exposure causes the skin’s outer layer to thin and become more fragile, making it easier to bruise or tear.

4. Vascular Changes
    •    UV radiation can cause broken capillaries and redness, especially around the nose and cheeks.
