Hi everyone.
This will be the last post because Hair by Conroy no longer exists as a business. We will soon be deleting the page.
As you know, Carol is unwinding her career for her health and family reasons and is putting some time in two days a week at Saynts and Scissors. She has moved from a 6-7 day work week to only 2. Obviously she cannot continue the same work load, so please do not recommend anyone to her personally, she is not accepting new clients so she can continue to serve her long time customers. For those who continue to see her, please be advised that it will be difficult to move appointments around so please try to make your set appointment, otherwise you may have a long wait before she can see you.
The goal is to keep her at two days, we appreciate your cooperation.

Today at 5:00 marks the end of an era. Hair by Conroy, in business since 1980, comes to an official end. My wife Carol is going to get some much needed rest and will be turning the shop over to Jenn Alton who has been with us for many years. Carol will still be around for a few days a week at the newly-named, ‘Saynts and Scissors’, as she helps Jenn ease into her new position as salon owner. The phone number will remain the same, 412-381-8595.

Carol’s passion for hair and Redken products is legendary in this business, she has studied with the best educators on the planet and her knowledge is formidable, her creativity endless, but her legs need to now rest and heal and her desire to be a full time Gramma to Olivia, Sophia and Nora will be taking her on new adventures post-pandemic.

Jenn will be staffing the salon with talented people to carry on the tradition and we hope that you continue to show her the support you have graciously afforded us all these years. She has earned this and we wish her the very best as she steps into it. Bravo, Jenn!

Many thanks must be said to our supporters, we literally have made the milestones of life with you and consider you our friends.
We’ve laughed hard, sometimes cried, and many of you have been with us since that tiny salon opened in 1980. We are so grateful for your loyalty.

And many thanks to Melissa, our niece and right hand who has kept us organized and is the smiling, calm presence that greets you on the phone and in person. You are the heart of Hair by Conroy and we love you. ❤️

Finally, as a retiree myself, I’d like to welcome my wife into a world of less stress, more leisure, and more precious time with three of the most loving, adorable little girls.
You deserve this!❤️❤️

Well, it’s retirement time for me. I’m moving into my new career as a ‘Manny’ to Nora and for when ever I’m needed for Olivia and Sophia. Hanging up the shears, putting down the comb.
I became a barber in 1978 and Carol and I opened our first shop in 1980. I met many great folks along the way these past 40(!) years. Saw many of you marry, have kids, establish careers. We had so many great conversations about everything. We helped each other through sad times and celebrated the good ones. Sharing laughter and sometimes some tears, living the human experience together.
I cannot adequately express my gratitude to all of you who travelled with me, sitting in my chair every so often, trusting me with your appearance. I hope I honored that trust.
For the future you will be in good hands with Carol and Jenn. As for me, I’ll be changing diapers and wiping noses and getting to be the goofy Pappy that I want to be.

We wanted to say thank you for your patience as we catch up on our appointments.
Jenn and Carol are fully booked for a few weeks, so we highly recommend making your appointment soon. We cannot accommodate walk-ins. We are still practicing strict sanitary measures, social distancing, and wearing of masks is mandatory. We ask that you come alone for your appointment as we cannot have more than a few folks inside at one time.

Hello everyone! We can reopen this Friday, June 5th. For the safety of everyone, we have made changes in our salon according to the state:
We will work by appointment only, we cannot take walk-ins. We will ask you if you have any COVID symptoms. You can wash your hands at our service sink. Masks are mandatory for us and you, purely for safety reasons.

We can also avoid blow drying if you wish.
We will be thoroughly sanitizing between clients for your safety, so we will need to have more time in between.
We are sorry but for now, refreshments are suspended and reading materials have been removed.
We ask for your patience, we are backlogged on scheduled services and will get to you as soon as humanly possible.
And most importantly, if you are feeling sick please reschedule your appointment, we will do the same.
We have missed you and look forward to seeing you again.
