I don't know why I thought Loofah or Luffa was from the sea. Turns out it's a fruit of two species from the cucumber family. Yes, a fruit, cultivated to be eaten as a vegetable. Are you as confused as I am? Thank goodness I'm not eating it. When Luffa is left to dry its internal properties are harvested and cut to sell as a Loofah scrubbing sponge for the skin. I'm experimenting with it ~ 2017 exclusive.
