A walk in the woods reveals where your heart is hiding.
The small creatures, the unnoticed plants, the inner growth— all revealed as you take step after step.
The branches of your being outstretch, guided by the cool air that invites you forward.
The earth opens her arms as you breathe the scent of the soil, the moss, the leaves.
You travel towards the center of the woods, and there you find your heart.
At home, at peace, at rest amongst the trees.

Mourning.
For the mothers of children gone.
The childhoods stolen too soon—
By ringing ears and baited breaths.
For the broken men who cannot carry on
Living and losing day after day.
The homes quickly fled—
Will they be filled again?
For the children who grow smaller,
Their voices hushed and steps hurried.
The loss of light, extinguished under the onslaught of violence.
Mourning.

An afternoon and a study of the color yellow
While the light shifts, I see how the color changes
The pale yellow becoming golden
The dark petals becoming illuminated
All the while, the breeze flows through the leaves gently. The wind carries yellow with it
The pale blue sky becomes bright
The clouds are sparse and thin, but full of character
My bones shift and buzz with movement, like a bee buzzes and moves about the flower.
The grass feels like little electric shocks that light up both sides of my arms
The music of life courses through me,
Every verse a measured passage through time
The breeze blows through the leaves, and blows through my body.
I become a cloud sparse and thin and disperse into the expanse of the sky
The breeze moves the stalks, and the yellow comes alive.
The stalks shake and twirl, the rhythm of the earth and the sky
The dance of time, the shifting of pale to golden now exuberant.
Shining light, the petals glow in the sun. Illuminated and illuminating.
And here I am. And yellow is.

Take a moment, take a breath. Find your flower and take a rest.
