It’s almost here! I cannot possibly express what a dream come true it is to have the chance to share henna with people in my hometown, at the library I practically grew up in. (Though in those days there were these things called “card catalogues”😅😅😅)

Sign up in advance through the Athenaeum’s website or show up on the day, whatever works for you. I’ll have cones to play with and nerdy trivia to share while you practice. For example: did you know that some Egyptian mummies, including Ramses II, were entombed wearing henna? It’s true! Henna has been a part of Afro-Eurasian burial practices for millennia: for beauty, for the pleasant odor, because it has mild antifungal and antibacterial effects, and because hair/nails/skin treated with henna are more resistant to breaking down. Neat, right??
