I am a secondary lymphedema patient, diagnosed a few weeks after the first of several breast cancer surgeries. I have been using compression garments ever since (2006). My insurance covered them. When I learned Medicare did not cover them I joined the Lymphedema Treatment Act to help right that wrong.
The sponsor of the Lymphedema Treatment Act, Senator Cantwell, is trying to get the bill into the next Legislative package, but she can’t do it alone. It will take multiple Senators going to leadership, asking for the LTA to be included, and that’s why your advocacy is crucial!
A full update, your Senators’ phone numbers, and a call script are at https://lymphedematreatmentact.org/update-getting-the-lta-into-the-next-legislative-package/
To email both of your Senators go to https://www.votervoice.net/LTA/Campaigns/75880/Respond
Please ask your family, friends and colleagues to take these actions as well. The LTA has already been passed in the House, now we just need to get through the Senate. Help get the Lymphedema Treatment Act passed into law this year by contacting your Senators today!

When LympheDIVAs founder Rachel Levin Troxell was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 she sought out community, support, and resources that could aid her in fighting her disease. What she found was Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC). Like many of the women who receive support from LBBC, Rachel developed an arsenal of weapons in her fight against breast cancer and found a community that accepted her with open arms and offered her much needed support during a very difficult time.
In an effort to fulfill Rachel’s mission to inspire those with breast cancer to feel beautiful, strong, and confident the Levin family continues to support Living Beyond Breast Cancer through LympheDIVAs. The Yogi design is special because of Rachel’s passion for practicing yoga and the relief it brought her during a difficult time. By offering this design LympheDIVAs hopes that more women would opt to wear their Yogi design sleeves, gauntlets, and gloves to alleviate lymphedema swelling. 25% of each Yogi design sold is donated to Living Beyond Breast Cancer.
Through Sunday get 25% off your Yogi purchase and we will continue to donate 25% back to LBBC!

Did you know that every time we get a review, we share your feedback directly with our company-wide communication channel? Either way, we love hearing from you. Thank you!
Such an inspiring episode! 🙌
Recently, as Hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida, I had the opportunity to record a very special episode of The Burn with Miami Beach resident LaTonya Davis and her 'nephson' Jayden Holmes.
They shared with me their collaborative piece, “Together We Are Thriving, Celebrating, and Reflecting,” from Wildfire Magazine’s 2022 “Cancer Culture” issue. It is a piece about remembering the loved ones they have lost to metastatic breast cancer and honoring what life & love looks like in the aftermath they face together.
LaTonya was diagnosed at 47 with triple negative breast cancer after already losing her mother and sister (Jayden’s mom) to the same disease. LaTonya is a proud NPR 'How I Built This Fellow' and founder of The Breast Talk Ever. She is raising her musician nephson, Jayden.
In this episode (one of my personal favorires!), LaTonya, Jayden and I discuss survivorship and the realities of dying, survivor’s guilt, and how families carry on (and learn to thrive again) after losing family. We also discuss how LaTonya formed her lifestyle company The Breast Talk Ever by using the mindset of meeting people where they are at in life.
My favorite part was when I got to ask Jayden if he had any advice for those of us parenting in the face of cancer, scared of leaving our children behind, as his mom was forced to do - his answer blew me away! Get ready for goosebumps!

"What happened to your arm?"
People asked our late founder, Rachel, this question all the time before she founded LympheDIVAs and was wearing the hot, heavy, beige compression garments.😒
Everyone meant well with the question. They wanted to learn about what they perceived as a sports-related injury and show that they cared. To Rachel, it brought up the negative feelings related to her cancer battle. Having to rehash her whole journey regularly when she was compliant in wearing her compression garment became something that hindered her outlook as she was trying to heal.
When healing, a lot of time, we look at the physical symptoms and rarely do we address the emotional aspect. When Rachel created LympheDIVAs, she wanted to address the physical aspect of the compression garment. Still, she also wanted to make a garment that allowed her to be out in the world without being asked what happened and having to relive a difficult time.
Getting compliments when wearing the garments or being asked with curiosity about them created a much more positive conversation around lymphedema and cancer and was helpful in the healing process. And it was her mission is to help as many people as possible to do the same.

Have you been experiencing lymphedema flare-ups? 😔
You’re not the first and won’t be the last.
Here are some common triggers:
👉 Eating an unhealthy diet. The lymphatic system is part of the immune system, so when dietary changes are not super healthy, like drinking alcohol in excess or enjoying too many salty or fried foods, the lymphatic system can be reactive, leading to swelling. Be sure to be mindful of your water intake also. Staying hydrated leads to less viscous lymphatic fluid and can help with drainage.
👉 Heat ☀️ Most matter expands when heated, and lymphatic fluid isn't any different. If possible, try to stay cool and avoid heat triggers such as putting your arm over steam or grill grates when cooking—reducing prolonged exposure to heat, such as in saunas or spas. And wear compression when heat cannot be avoided. Compression will help by moving excess lymphatic fluid toward the lymph nodes, and it will keep it from stagnating and becoming problem swelling that may need manual lymphatic drainage to reduce.
👉 Tight clothing, jewelry, or accessories can cause a tourniquet. A tourniquet compacts lymphatic fluid in one space and doesn't allow it to move toward the body for drainage, so there is a pocket of swelling. We often don't realize that our tight blazer sleeves, shoulder strap purses, bracelets, or rings are the things that are causing the flare-ups, but if you are struggling with pockets of swelling, try to examine your clothing and accessories for any triggers. Even keeping your arm bent for an extended period, like working at a desk, can contribute to this issue. Be sure to take frequent breaks and shake it out.
Even when it doesn’t feel like it, you CAN overcome it! Check-in with your doctor or therapist about any new or worsening swelling. If your swelling is red, hot to the touch, and you've developed a fever, those are signs of an infection called cellulitis and should not be ignored.
What causes your lymphedema flare-ups? Let us know in the comments.🌟

How do I care for my garments? 🤔
We receive this question all the time! Luckily caring for your new LympheDIVAs compression garments is easy!
Step 1: Use a laundry bag, sometimes called delicates or lingerie bags. You can find the mesh bags in the laundry section at stores like Target or Walmart. This is especially important if you're washing your garments with other clothing so they don't get snagged or stuck on something.
Step 2: Load your garments in a mesh bag into the washing machine. Use a regular detergent without fabric softener, bleach, OxyClean, or other laundry additives. There are various reasons for this, but mostly all of these cleaners are either too abrasive, or they gunk up the fibers, so they cannot perform optimally.
Step 3: After washing, keep the garments in the mesh bag and put them in the dryer. You can dry them on low to medium heat, but not high heat. Remember not to add fabric softener (like Bounce) in this step. Again, we don't want the LYCRA fibers gunked up. Using rubber or wool laundry balls is a better alternative.
And that's it! You have clean garments that are ready to wear again. Remember to wash your garments as needed, especially if they feel out of shape.

It's National Read A Book Day! Reading a book is a great way to unwind and practice self-care, which is so essential, especially when actively managing lymphedema.
Let's get some recommendations going.
What's a good book you've read recently?
There's a big difference between the other compression garment manufacturers and us.
First, we're all about you. When Rachel & Robin founded Lymphedivas, they did it to provide a better option for compression garments to other women and men just like them. And we have always kept that drive and motivation at the heart of our company. We will never compromise our quality or our standards, and we will never provide anything but excellent customer service.
What makes us different:
1️⃣ Made in the USA - we operate our business and manufacture all of our products in the United States 🇺🇸
2️⃣ Superior quality & durability - we use only the best, most durable LYCRA fibers in our products, guaranteeing proper compression for 4-6 months of wear.
3️⃣ Moisture wicking & breathable - no one wants a hot, sweaty, thick, and coarse sleeve. That's why we designed our garments to cool you down. That's right, moisture-wicking pulls sweat away from the body and evaporates it off the surface of the garment, and our breathable knit allows for air to enter through the fabric to keep arms cool and comfortable for all-day wear.
4️⃣ 360-degree/4-way stretch moves with your body. You will not feel pinching or restriction due to wearing a compression garment. Where ever you go, your sleeve goes too for unrestricted range of motion.
5️⃣ Seamless - hate seams digging into the most sensitive spots? Us too! Who thought having a seam at the sensitive thumb web area of a glove was a good idea anyway? That's why you won't find a seam on our products. We've engineered a cutting-edge 3D knitting method to create all of our products, including gloves and gauntlets, to be completely seamless.
6️⃣ Excellent customer service - when you call, text, or email Lymphedivas, you can rest assured that your question, comment, or concern is as important to us as it is to you. Our Customer Care Navigator team doesn't use teleprompters or pre-made canned responses when speaking with you. Instead, you get a live representative that cares about your needs and wants to ensure that we support you in the best way possible.
7️⃣ Quick shipping - we know you need your compression garments when you hit the checkout button. That's why we ship all of our products within 1-2 business days with the best shipping options available; even when you qualify for free shipping, we don't use mail innovations or any of those services that feel like your garments are coming by pony. We use USPS, FedEx, and UPS to ensure you get your products as quickly as possible.
8️⃣ Cool designs - we strive to have something for everyone. Whether you want to blend in, stand out, wow, or just compliment your look, we have something for you. And we add new designs every six months (at your direction via a survey) to keep things fresh!
The story of LympheDIVAs began in Philadelphia when two young breast cancer survivors, Rachel Troxell and Robin Miller, developed lymphedema, a side effect of breast cancer treatment that can cause permanent swelling in the arms. Their physicians and lymphedema therapists recommended a compression sleeve as the most effective way of controlling the swelling. When they researched the options for the sleeve they found that the only ones available were rough textured, heavy, hot, beige, and bandage-like. Frustrated and dismayed over the lack of options they had for compression sleeves, Robin and Rachel met with Kristin Dudley, a fashion designer, to discuss their idea of creating a more elegant and comfortable compression sleeve.
In late 2007, Robin left the company. Soon after, Rachel discovered her breast cancer had returned. While she was being treated, she continued building LympheDIVAs, which brought her much joy during a difficult time in her life. Rachel died January 22, 2008, at the age of 37. Her determination and compassion to improve the lives of breast cancer survivors is very much ingrained in the spirit of LympheDIVAs.
Today, LympheDIVAs’ products can be found in retail locations nationwide and internationally. At Rachel’s request, her father Dr. Howard Levin and her mother, Judy Levin took over the responsibility of running the company which their daughter helped found. In August of 2010, Rachel’s little brother, Josh Levin, joined the company and is now running it with his parents. They all hope that LympheDIVAs’ compression apparel will continue to inspire breast cancer survivors everywhere to feel as beautiful, strong and confident as Rachel was.
