The Best Self Defense Tool!

One thing I am truly passionate about is women's safety.

This is a conversation I have found myself having in the treatment room since it's mostly ladies around, and I wanted to share what I have found to be the best option for us.

Most options such as knives, tasers, and pepper spray people have such great potential to be taken and used against you, dropped, used incorrectly, or is not going to actually stop somebody who is manic, drugged up, etc.

Upon extensive research I have found the answer -

You are going to want a tactical whip.

It includes a car window breaker and seat belt cutter as well in case of emergency.

Bottom line: These things HURT

Why I love it:
1. Non-lethal self defense tool
2. You don't need a lot of strength to use it. It will hurt so much that it will stop someone from wanting to fight you. Even works through thick clothing.
3. Wrist strap: cannot be taken from you, and you can drop it to use your hands.
4. Steel cable is very hard to grab, slips through hand, and gives enough distance.
5. Small enough to fit in purse

Self Defense Tool Workshops:
The best way to learn to use these is to practice on a piece of produce. I had an idea to have these workshops where I will host a few people at a time to hang out, have some fun, and become confident with this tool. Light drinks and snacks will be provided as well!

Self Defense Tool + Workshops

I love when I get to announce new and exciting things!

I will soon be offering permanent jewlery which can be made into rings, bracelets, anklets, necklaces, belly chains, and more! Instead of a regular clasp, the ends of the jewelry are soldered together creating a seamless look.

To start I will have a variety of 14k gold filled and sterling silver chains to choose from. I will be happy to bring in solid gold in the future if the interest is there. Gold filled jewelry is one step below solid gold. At 5% gold by weight, tarnish resistant, it is great for everyday wear and great for sensitive skin. Sterling silver will last a lifetime and polishes great with soap and water.

How It Works:

2. Custom fit to your body

3. Weld the ends and get your permanent jewelry!

Taking a special piece and being able to wear it all the time is a constant reminder of the moment, or person, from which the piece is from. Also, having your jewelry on you all of the time keeps you from misplacing it, or risking the chance of catching the clasp on something and breaking it.

I will be offering this in office and it can be done in about 15-20 minutes. I would also love to coordinate on bringing permanent jewelry to any party or event for you and your loved ones!

Level 1 Body Toning & Anti-Cellulite

I am thrilled to introduce an exciting new service at Botanical Aesthetics: Microcurrent Body Treatments!

Most of you already know and love the microcurrent machine for facials. I've now had some time to play with doing body treatments as well and can say I love it!

What It CAN Do:
-Cellulite Reduction
- Improve superficial skin surfacing
- Improve the décolleté by minimizing crepiness
- Toning and tightening the skin on arms, legs, and buttox
- Increase oxygen flow and circulation

What It Does Not Do:
- Deep muscle toning/contouring/sculpting
Unfortunately working with Level 2 body sculpting is out of my scope of practice

There are 2 main methods to cellulite reduction that happen with this machine:
1. Firm and tone the skin so that fat cells cannot push through the criss- crossed facia fibers.
2. Decrease the size of the fat cells, so they are no longer bulging through the fascia fibers giving that bumpy “orange peel” appearance.

We definitely want to be taking collagen!

It's so difficult to figure out which supplements are worth our money and effort and which are just gimmicks. People ask me all the time about collagen in particular, so I decided to deep dive into the studies and research behind it with someone who is a PhD and has been studying aging for 10 years.

It turns out, collagen is worth it!

The only unfortunate news is that there are no vegan/vegetarian alternatives that offer the same benefits.

Most studies used a dosage of 1 - 10mg/day to show improvements wrinkle reduction, elasticity, and hydration. These studies showed results in the skin around 12 weeks of daily usage.

For improvements in joint health, the timeline is a bit longer at 6 months, but the results are very promising.

What to look for:
- Make sure the bottle lists Prolene and Hydroxyprolene collagen peptides as prominent ingredients. These are the ones that in skin sample studies made it all the way to the skin.

- Both bovine and marine collagen peptides work great

What I'm doing:
I am taking 10mg daily of unflavored collagen peptides. I mix this into my morning coffee. It adds some extra protein and mixes well with no funky flavors. I found two great brands that are readily available.

Take aways - be patient! Don't flood your system with extra collagen. 10mg daily should yield good results.

Teeth Whitening Pop-Ups are Back! 6/25, 7/9, 7/16

On Friday I did something that really pushed me outside of my box and did a presentation on hoop dancing and a one song flow for my BNI networking group!

One of my goals for the rest of this year is to start teaching hooping and bring more flow arts to our Walnut Creek/Pleasant Hill area.

I'm starting a hoop coach training with at the end of the month, and hope to have classes and workshops starting at the end of summer!

Flow arts and hooping has been such an amazing benefit to my life and I can't wait to spread the love to more people.

2023 has been incredible to my business with all of your support!

As I mentioned in the last update, I have had to close my books to new clients for in person appointments for now. I currently have very limited openings left into September.

This has allowed me the opportunity to explore what is the next best move. I decided to expand my reach by doing more virtual consults. I can get people really great results with a dedicated and customized home care program without ever coming in for treatments, and I am able to do these from home on my days off.

I am also so excited to announce that my esthi bestie Justine, who has been offering sugar waxing and brow services to my clients, will be taking facial appointments starting in July.

Microcurrent results mid treatment!

I was doing a treatment on myself and snapped this picture to show real time results of what the microcurrent can do. I had been working on the lower half of my face and the difference between the two sides is amazing. This machine produces a pain free non surgical facelift.

Results can be seen right away, and with a series of treatments (usually 10) results are dramatic and lasting. Results can stay for 6 months to a year, and with boosters every 1-3 months the results will stay.

It's been a month with the new machine and everyone loves it!

So far everybody who has tried it is happy with results which makes me so happy. The feeling of having your face and neck infused with extra energy is so interesting. It has been such a fun experience to see the effects on myself and others.

My skin is tighter, looking more hydrated, and my jawline/cheekbone are noticeably more contoured.

Sugar Waxing
Justine has been sugaring me for 2 years now, and I can't recommend it enough! Sugar wax does not stick to the top layer of skin like typical wax does. Instead, it adheres to hair and dead skin cells so there's less risk of hair breakage and skin irritation. It is a natural formulation made of sugar, water, and lemon and my skin reacts much better to it than hard or soft wax. It is slightly less painful and great for people with sensitive skin. She will be offering hair removal on the face, armpits, bikini, and Brazilian.

Brow Lamination and Tinting:
This can give you perfect brows for 6-8 weeks! Lamination can create an ideal brow in one appointment. A first solution is used to readjust the direction of hair growth, and then a second is used to set the desired shape. The results are visible right away. Tinting helps to define the shape that you would like to achieve and create a fuller look.
